Thanks for the pointer to using mp4creator to avoid delays in starting videos. It does indeed work, for example on video files converted using Quicktime Pro which otherwise do have a delay when played on my P990. But using mp4creator to create hint tracks isn't the only thing that avoids the delay. I've been using Mpegable X4 for a while, and it doesn't create hint tracks but it also doesn't cause any delay. So there must be something else going on. I'll try to figure out what it is. It would speed up M3 when working with large files if we can figure out an alternative to the mp4creator 'hack'.

Best regards,
Malcolm

I don't think the P990 supports heaac-v2, so it's disabled for the P990 profile.

there's a PDF on the SE developer site describing the supported codecs for each phone:

Malbry:

That's interesting about mpegable not creating hint tracks but also not suffering from the delayed opening bug. It's possible that the problem is more related to the A/V track interleaving in the container. Telling mp4creator to make it ISMA compatible hint tracks and remux the file could be altering the interleave somehow. I really don't know enough about the finer details of mp4 containers to say whether that's the case though.

@mish,

great work mate, i think you should make a webpage specificaly for this great app...a blog for instance, so that all uiq 3 users can folow the development better than in forum threads

Does this only benefit UIQ3 users? - from the looks of it it could be useful to all video encoders... Thinking specifically of using for a P905 or PSP

Cheers
