So just how many more firmwares do you think it is going to take then? Maybe by their first birthday or maybe the code is actually so badly written it will be never.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

so the fact that orange are rejecting pretty much every new n-series (s60) phone because of instable firmware and terrible multi-tasking abilities yet are more than willing to show off the uiq 3 devices all day long (i know this because i went to an orange store yesterday where they brought out the p990, m600, AND w950 for me to try out despite the fact i told them i wasnt going to buy one at that time and i was a pay as you go customer and then after a reasonably long conversation about symbian and smartphones confirmed my experience with the n-series as a complete waste of time)

by the way, i currently use a 6680. i have used an n73, n80, and n93, but returned/sold them all after about a week each beacuse quite frankly they were crap - i'm about to go back to that orange shop and sign a new contrct with an m600 on it on saturday. it might be a bit slower, but its a damned sight better (of course naturally i will debrand it, as i do with all my phones)

sorry if this has already been mentioned, i was just fed up with hearing how s60 v3 is supposedly so superior, when exactly like uiq half the customers think its utter junk. - at least uiq3 hasnt been pretty much rejected by a major network operator

okay, since every one her is speaking about the 990i. i think i also sud also comment on it. i have been using it from last month. Off course this device has got problems if you don't understand how things in it functions. This device rocks in the hands of person who understand the technology and who can optimize the device to his needs. But if you don't understand the tech side of the device then u will end up with lots of problems. Am happy with my device. So I blv people who don't understand the technology much shouldn't buy this phone till SE solves the FW problems. Well this is purely my opinion, hope guys here will take my words supportively.

I could not agree more. When you know how to work things properly, expecially smartphones, they work. If you don't, they dont. This is the stage the p990i is at, and many other smartphones.

Purely s an example, I'll use windows. If you know exactly what your doing and how to do it, it works perfectly - ive used every version of windows since 3.1 (except the god-awful me, nobody in the world has managed to run that reliably yet) and in all of the computers i have used i've had 5 hangs. Yet people who have only just gone out and bought the latest £1600/£2000 computer not really thinking about what theyre doing, what they want it for, or the power of the components and their reliability report problems and hangs all the time...for example, dells nearly always break after 2 years, many (not all) hp laptops become unreliable or break, yet my 6 year old emachines laptop and cheapo (~£400) homebuild media centre both now run windows vista with ease.

sorry, im giong off topic, i just wanted to make a point.

I also would like to say that I have had no problems with my p990 whatsoever, it was orange branded for a few months and is even better now unbranded thanks to Kulankendi (recomend unbranding to release full potential). Wifi, Email, Surfing, movies, camera, et'al no problems. Well just 1 problem, i cant find a decent leather case that keeps funtionality while offering protection, ive tried two krussel cases but they dont fit as well as the p900 case did.
