from reading your last posts it is obvious that your soul intent is to convince people that iPods are better than phones WITHOUT listening to other opinions or opened to debate

The difference is, I've been open-minded about this. I have forced myself to live iPod-free for the last week (using my W810 for everything), just to try and understand the Esato majority opinion on this.

And you know what? It sucks. Transferring music, and re-creating playlists every time, is pain. Navigating that music on my phone is pain. How AAC files randomly cause the app to go insane is pain. Having to find, on my own, the right movie export settings for phone playback (and then having to transfer those manually) was pain. Watching the battery meter shrink to zero within a days' use is pain.

Equally painful is the large body of mis- (dis-) information about the iPod contained in this thread

The iPod, OTOH, takes care of all that automatically. Plug it in and iTunes automatically synchronizes it. It even creates the playlists on the iPod for you - imagine that It's rock-solid stable, I can find whatever I want quickly, and it lasts for days and days between charges.

Since you prefer doing things the hard way to gain one smidgeon of 1-device convenience, more power to you.

Meanwhile, looks like I'll be selling my W810 to buy an 8GB iPod Nano - which costs about the same as an 8GB MSDP, excluding the phone to put it in

I have used a W800i since late 2005 and iīm very fond of it... however, i recently purchased an ipod 30gb black 5.5g and i must say... what an amazing toy. Iīve never considered buying an ipod before because i thought i didnt need all the gbs and iīve always liked multi-function devices and the ipod is 'just' a media player. Now that i have one i see why it got so popular. The ipod is one of the best handheld devices ever produced imho, not because of the amount of functions it has but because how its functions were implemented both in software and hardware (design and look and feel included), not to mention the accessories. iTunes is a great software, it organizes all your songs, videos e movies logically and sync em automatically. The key to having a good experience with ipod/iTunes is keeping your itunes organized, the ipod is just a portable itunes. Many people complain about the iTunes but thats because usually they dont keep their songs organized in their pcs which makes iTunesīs job more difficult. Those people end up preferring to manually transfer their media instead of having to organize them and then syncing because its easier. However, if they took some time to organize their media in iTunes they would see what a great product it is. ( i specially like cover flow, great combination of desing and functionality). A couple of days ago i bought an av cable to watch my ipod videos on the tv, i also recommend it, the cable is cheap and its really cool, and the ipod 5.5g have better battery life than the 5g.
Anyway, what im trying to say is that the ipod as a media player is much better than a phone so if u r looking for a good media player u should get an ipod ( or iphone in the future). Even if u dont need all the memory is good to have many songs and videos wherever u go so u dont have to determine previoulsy which ones uīll have for listening, if u feel like listening to that particular song u didnt think of before all u have to do is touch the wheel and u r there. However if u want an all in one device and dont care much about media quality (both hardware and software), a mobile phone is great for u.

@SloopJohnB: quick note, all my media is organized :]
drag n drop has nothing to do with it.

... all u have to do is touch the wheel and u r there.

lmao

Usually when people cant come up with good arguments or simply dont have anything else to add that matters they try and ridiculize the otherīs persons statements. Whats funny about using the clickwheel? It just ilustrates how easy it is to find content in the ipod.
I wasnt trying to unveil an īamazingī truth with my last sentence, i was just saying what its usually like to most people because my post was about MY PERSONAL experience with the ipod. Its about trying to be reasonable with my view, whats ībsī about that? Perhaps it would better for esato if u read more carefully and learned some manners.

i'll have to agree here.. the problem is a lot of people don't like to organize their music "itune" style or have it everywhere and are too use to their system. i use to be like that too... dragging and dropping music etc..etc...

but then one day i decide to use itunes (on pc) and it turned my folders and folders of music into a music database that's easy to manage and sync with an ipod. (which i don't own) but now i use itunes as my main music player (on my mac now) and also transfer to my current music phone of the month usually SE or nokia s60 phone by simply dragging and dropping from itunes to memory stick/card. (album art, artist sorting and mp3/aac tags work flawlessly.)

@SloopJohnB: there is nothing offending with a 'lmao', a 'lol' or a ':D'.

I thought it was a fun line, I was told that same line by a salesperson so for me it's really fun on a personal level to read this from you :]

About the other part, the iPod's hw/sw is not superior in any way.
Did I put it out there in a more polite way now?

can i jus say one thing in this supposed chat, thats quickly becoming a flame war!...

The ipod is good for what its made to do.... MUSIC! It is a dedicated music player...

The SE phones an other manufacturers phones are good at being phones with music capability... Because thats what they are made for!

An example of this is a Ride on Lawn Mower... It is ok at cutting grass and ok at being a car type vehicle BUT a car is much better for driving as thats the sole purpose its made for and a normal lawn mower is better for cutting grass coz thats all it is made for doing!

Convergance will take a while to come upto the same levels as dedicated devices but it will happen eventually...

So please guys stop the little Ipod Vs SE war...

Ipodīs software is very good and better than most other softwares in portable media players. U have to consider not only the ipodīs menu organization but also iTunes which is feature rich and also very easy to use. Its hard to find a portable player that beats that combination, iīve never seen one, not even zune, but i cant say for sure there isnt.
In terms of hardware u have to consider ipodīs very slim HD, combined with a VERY bright screen and the touch sensitive clickwheen (makes things fast and its patented by apple).
It is not reasonable to say that one product is better than all others but ipodīs sw and hw are at least unique and make up for very good competition against other players so it is superior to a bunch of them.
