I thought this was only for old SEs. But then I guess the little G/E is for EDGE enabled phones since the W600 shows it like that too.

Having read through the posts in the link, I believe the gist of it is that they have managed to flash a K800 with W850 firmware. The only problem they have encountered is with the joystick, though they did not elaborate on the exact problem, but only mentioned something about how the joystick and D-pad works differently. There are also people in that forum who are skeptical about the authenticity of it. Some of them are also wondering how the camera would work now, seeing that there is no auto-focus on the W850.

In the later part of the thread, the original poster states that he merely flashed the K800 with the W850 firmware for the fun of it and was surprised that the handset could actually be turned on. He says that the reason he posted was just to let people know that the K800's hardware can support the W850 firmware to a certain degree. He did not, and has no intention to, investigate how the other functions of the hybrid would work, and had flashed back to the K800 firmware right after that.

From what I gather (though he didn't mention explicitly), the joystick does not work with the W850 firmware and he feels that such an impairment renders the hybrid useless. He hasn't posted since, and I doubt there will be any further news as he has clearly stated that he merely wanted to see if the K800 would work with the W850 and is happy enough that it could be turned on. He doesn't seem to be working on separating the walkman 2.0 or anything like that.

Hope that summary is clear enough for you guys.

where can i get the software? that's make my K800 complete and perhaps will drag walkman's consumers into K types. i used to like walkman family, but i prefer cybershot technology built in my K800...

@dr
you will need to get a w850 firmware and flash your k800 with it. But as what deluded said, it has problems because of hardware differences.

What about flashing the K800 to W880 and then uploading the default K800 camera driver back in the phone?
