By the way, the major difference between a 262K and a 16M color display will be seen in large surfaces of one color with a smooth variation of the intensity (the sky for example) because even on a 16M screen, there are only 256 levels of intensity for one particular color. And this the eye can see.

So is the N71. Infact you can add N90 and N93 to that list too.
and that 911 was a typo
U notice they all clamshells? All the screens are protected like the 9300 and 9500, the N95 is not protected.
@ Michka
Thanks for the info! I think SE gets the screen from SONY and Nokio from Sanyo.

just so you know, I believe that it is general consensus that Nokia uses better displays than SE as of the present generation.

bodum, I think that "general consensus" might gather outside your home with torches...ready to save you from the dark side
but seriously, even "older" generations weren't quite that clear-cut, I believe... Depended on your needs where you stood: the k750 had a nice screen at the time (all those "ages ago"), but it was a bit crap outside in the sun...while at the same time the foggy 6680 screen was at least visible in the brightest condition! The e61 16m-screen combines amazing crispy-sharpness with total usability in extremely sunny conditions (and for the battery's sake I have mine always on lowest brightness setting!)

I have alot of Nokios, the main thing is they dont use "standard" equipment like

does. Their screens are made to fit the phone, while

uses standard size screens for all the phones, K800 and W850, K750 and W710 etc etc they do the same with the cameras, the K750 and W810 etc and the crap 2MP with no autofocus.
Its kinda wierd coz Im a big VW fan and they doing the same thing, using the same engines throughout the range ie GTi/A3 2.0T, 3.2l R32/Jetta/Passat/A3 3.2/toureg etc etc etc

But we have all agreed to some extent that what you say is true.
My question again is why is it the the colour is not as alive as other LCD wit hard screen protectors?? There is a big difference.
I actually believe its a normal high res LCD screen and no TFT in it. If that makes any sense.
that's like asking why the cmos cam in k790a is different then the cmos cam in the n73....

as far as I know, the only phone without such a layer of protection is the Nokia 6131. so it's not true to say that Nokia phones do not have the protective layer.
