how is the slide mechanism on yours? flimsy/wonky/wobbly? or firm, sort of like w850, if you've used one? when you have slide up or down, and press buttons, does it feel firm or flimsy?

Mine is actually quite wobbly. Even when closed, when pressing down on the bottom right side I can feel a slight wobble. When open, the two halves wobble with almost half a millimeter between them - it's almost distracting when using the phone.

I also notice that on the two outermost columns of keys, only half the key is lit up. It's like there are some dead diodes or something. I'll have to take it into a service center, I think.

@SE4NICK: not all S500's keypads are faulty, just these ones.

btw, the S500's keypad reminds me the 800's somehow, except the for the little dots in between the keys.

@ henrikwl correct me if im wrong but im sure most phones only have like 6 or 9 lights under the keypad and in some light conditions it looks as if a LED has gone out or something casue the key is lit up. But really its just how most phones are.

Sorry for the blur but one side is more lit up than the other.

@ tranced thank you

@SE4NICK
It's just a case of uneven backlighting. Just a quality issue - not because its faulty. Some phones are better than others, i.e. Motorola normally does a really good job in terms of evenness.

Yeah, they said so at the service center too. The guy behind the counter showed me his K810i, and it too had some uneven backlighting in the keypad - it's just how it is, I suppose.

About the wobbly slider mechanism: they said that they could try and replace it, but experience with Nokia sliders had shown little or no improvement - guess it too is just the way it is.

ok well i bought the gold/yellow a week ago and guess what? i took it back today!...luv the phone, had no problems at all with the keys (as stated in previous post) the problems i ended up having was wobbly slide i.e loose, also when opening took ages to get going (screen to light up) was fine in beginning..then the final straw was freezing! so i took it back and exchanged it for a k810i instead
