The truth is, millions and millions of people are, and will continue using, good, well designed, award winning handsets made by Sony Ericsson.

To think for one minute that a few disgruntled smartphone users will bring the company crashing down around our ears is ridiculous because people will ultimately vote with their wallets and right now it seems that they are - to the disdain of some.

To quote you:

"Unfortunately for us all the days when Ericsson or SE led and the others tried to catch up are long gone it is SE that are now lagging way behind the others such a shame for what once was such a great company."

Whats so great about a company losing millions of pounds quarter after quarter, with stagnant market share and in danger of disappearing altogether but with a couple of great hi-tec smartphones under its belt?

"To be honest i am still quite surprised at the amount of people that are still prepared to consider SE at all. Many have left and vowed not to return and who can really blame them."

Obviously we must all be unbelievably stupid.

I think the K810i is an excellent device and I wouldn't hesitate recommending it to anyone. The K850i looks bloody amazing regardless of what chip its using.

Sony Ericsson isn't the niche, high-end player it used to be and just because its changed doesn't mean it isn't a great company.

To you it might not be great but I think it's shagalicious.

@goldenface

Just how does this very simple statement of mine

" I am not suggesting SE is going to go broke or continue to grow but i don't doubt the knock on from recent events will be felt."

Suddenly turns into

" To think for one minute that a few disgruntled smart phone users will bring the company crashing down around our ears is ridiculous because people will ultimately vote with their wallets and right now it seems that they are - to the disdain of some. "

How are these two statements similar? i wish i had a $ for every time someone here was happy to attribute me saying things i have never said as lets face it this far from being the first time. In fact even if one of these misquotes received an apology that would be a start.

Fortunately i have a strong character and belief and actually am very aware of exactly what i do or don't say and am always prepared to quantify and explain any of my statements when asked.

This is the argument of a defeated intellect IMO when the facts just don't support your case you are forced to start inventing things as a diversion or criticising other devices rather than facing the truth.

We all know and realise that SE is now focusing on other parts of the market. But how you can ignore the way they behave and treat their customers is truly beyond me. Of course their are no WSOD are there? no serious EROM problems that effected most of the K800's and all the people that have hissing on their devices are just imagining it even when SE admit it is their but claim it's not important enough to warrant fixing. I never realised so many on this forum where SE shareholders and desperate to maintain their share price.

How much or how little market share and profit SE makes effects any of you how exactly? but how well SE treats their customers effects all of you now doesn't it? Once more i have never suggested SE will go broke or collapse but if you really think the number of dissatisfied consumers who don't buy single units but are responsible for devices through out an entire organization and these products are @ premium prices so actually offer greater profit to SE will not have any effect you are crazy. Of course it will effect them, it has already started as some of the Networks are now very weary of adding some SE devices to their ranges as it effects their profitability when they have problems both in the cost of supporting these devices and having to replace them and having dissatisfied customers.

I really don't want pretty flashing lights or a phone that i can shake to shuffle my Music or changes themes according to the time of day as i really don't walk around or sit there staring at a phone. Cheap and nasty marketing gimmicks are for kids and the easily led, the best quality experience is what i am after not just well it's good enough. But if that's what excites some of you fair enough you are free to buy what ever you like after all it's your money. But please all this SE know what they are doing they don't care about x, y, or z is just ridiculous and to those that say just wait and see mid 2008 and they will have something well sorry that is just to little to late and you can safely bet all the other manufacturers will have moved on by then and have even better specs than they do now whilst SE is still playing catch up to current spec's. The sad fact is they are no longer the caring company whose products and service were a guarantee of a quality experience all they want is your money and once they have it that's it.

@ Dogmann
you are definetly a nokia lover
many people (and i mean many) like what you call cheap gimmicks. if you go to mobile-reviews forum you will see for your self...
you also have to think which group of people this phone are for. young peolpe in Denmark would rather want lighteffects, the shake feature etc. than wifi and a symbian software

What on earth made you imagine I made that association?

You consistently imply on these forums that because of the P990i fw debacle that you an many other smartphones users like you will leave and that will be it, SE will suffer greatly.

How are these two statements similar? i wish i had a $ for every time someone here was happy to attribute me saying things i have never said as lets face it this far from being the first time. In fact even if one of these misquotes received an apology that would be a start.

I'm certainly not apologising.

See, I don't understand how a light-hearted debate about the K850i successor can descend into:

"Announcing no more support for the P990 that only got reversed due to the unprecedented outcry from their very unhappy customers is not the way to keep your loyal customers in fact recent events have turned more of their users to other manufacturers than you would of thought possible. "

"The competition must be wetting themselves with laughter by now."

"Like most of you i used to love Ericsson and then SE and just find what has happened over the last Year so sad SE's name is mud and stands for nothing good any longer IMHO."

"To be honest i am still quite surprised at the amount of people that are still prepared to consider SE at all. Many have left and vowed not to return and who can really blame them."

"Unfortunately for us all the days when Ericsson or SE led and the others tried to catch up are long gone it is SE that are now lagging way behind the others such a shame for what once was such a great company.
These people where core SE supporters and if you lose them and their recommendation's you really are in serious trouble."

Believe it or not some of us like discussing SE phones.

Is it really too much to ask to have a light discussion about them without being told how sh!te Sony Ericsson is over and over again?

@k850 successor

You really are showing just how little you know as if you had read any of the other threads you would of realised that until a year ago the vast majority of all my devices had been Ericsson and then SE.

I only started using Nokia's a year ago due to the fast that the M600 was just so bad i really had no choice and the P990 was even worse. i have also never said anyone else has to choose or use a device on my preference either. But the most important factor to me after the functionality of my device is how well the company i have spent my money with supports me. Recent events have proved that SE are just not that caring and has just gone to reinforce i made the right decision in not putting my trust in a company that is happy to sell not for purpose products and then takes too long to remedy the problems and eventually if they could of got away with it just dropped support when it suits them. I for one definitely don't won't to buy products from a company that views it's users with such contempt trust SE I'd rather trust the devil.

@Goldenface

Actually you are wrong i don't imply it i say it and as time has passed it has been proved as well hasn't it.

Is it not possible to discuss SE phones with out absurd justifications of why the missing features are not important or why customer service and how SE treat their customers now is no longer important. Why should we all have to praise SE just because of the past what is wrong with judging and criticising their failings or do you really think their actions are all justified and it's just sour grapes from Nokia lovers because we are all just so jealous?

Again i never said SE are Shite as you put it all that i have done is point out where they have done wrong and where they are failing IMO. If you really believe that SE are so wonderful you stick with them but those of us that aren't blinkered by one manufacturers badge will continue to seek out devices that offer us the best for our money and that includes support and after care service all of which at this point in time SE is failing to do well.

We weren't discussing SE phones, the thread topic was K850i successor? the phone doesn't even exist yet.

Why should we all have to praise SE just because of the past what is wrong with judging and criticising their failings or do you really think their actions are all justified and it's just sour grapes from Nokia lovers because we are all just so jealous?

No one saying you have to praise SE.

Again, the thread topic was K850i successor? and ended up with great big blustering posts about why you'll never buy SE again.

Anyway, this should be in the rumours section.

@GoldenFace

You really have lost me now these are the points that you keep on raising and claim i am bringing up anyway this thread really is pointless.

We all will just have to wait and see how good the K850 is when it is launched. The other SE products will also fall or succeed once the users can buy them and we will all see then whether the situation has improved or not but to be honest i really do doubt it could be as bad as when SE realeased the first UIQ3 devices but who knows not long to wait now to find out. But it does seem that some of the Networks are not picking up these devices and some resellers are working to order only and not stocking them.
