K850's competitor will be the N81/82 anyone of those which has a 5MP camera. Dont even think of comparing a 2008 release phone with a phone released a year ago.

There are (were) no significant problems relating to the K800i in that regard in my experiance, I know and indeed have on staff several members who work in major mobile retail outlets who never mentioned this problem.
@ Dogmann, you do tend to have a penchant for flagging up real or imagined faults SOLELY amongst SE devices IMO, you really ought to throw your web of suspicion a little wider or you might lay yourself open to accusations of bias.
I am aware of lots of teething troubles in regard to a great many devices from a variety of manfacturers, so this argument cannot be used to denegrate a single device or maker.

@Goldenface,
But i just do not accept this fallacy that the K800 had no problems and low returns when first launched the K800 suffered badly and took SE releasing a new EROM flash to resolve the issue and those are the facts i really can't see how you can dispute this. Unless you are able to time travel and change History.

See, now your making things up as you go along. Please point out where I have said the K800i didn't have issues when it was first launched - I have already acknowledged this and I have also asked you to prove whether this was an issue which followed the K800i right through its current sales run.

Again, I am asking you to provide evidence which shows the K800i is still suffers from a high number of shop returns, after all, this seems to be a huge bone of contention for you.

What sour grapes i don't get how or why i would have sour grapes as stated above i think these are great phones just not trouble free in the case of the K800. So what sour grapes do i have i haven't claimed any other device is far better or they are rubbish. It is you that just can't accept and get over the simple fact that when the K800 launched it had some major problems with the EROM they fixed so all is well. But the fact is they shouldn't of had to fix it it shouldn't of happened in the first place. You are the one with sour grapes that just finds it so painful and hard to accept that SE are able to screw up and are far from being perfect, just how unrealistic is that.

Please see above and I ask you AGAIN, when have I ever claimed the K800i didn't initially suffer from EROM issues.

This whole discussion has come about because you can't accept that mobiletoday has claimed that the industry regards SE and Samsung phones as having low return rates. Need I say more?

Do me a favour and give me an E-Mail contact and i will ask them how they could make this statement and explain to them why i think it is incorrect and will happily post all correspondence on the Forum because despite what you are claiming they are most definitely wrong.

I have already done this.

Personal Opinion!! it's the same with everything, my favourite film is Dumb & Dumber, but the next guy might absolutely hate the film.

It's exactly the same with mobiles, just because one review says that the K850i is going to be the best phone in the universe means nothing, thats HIS opinion.

It's the same with the N95, my mate absolutely loves it, and Nokia. But me on the other hand HATE it, i think it's ugly.

So what if people come on here and defend and Nokia and the other producers of phones. It's an open forum for everyone to get involved in.

I wouldn't buy anything other than , so what, thats my option. I don't want people telling me 'Buy Nokia are crap'.

But the ridiculous part is when people start trying to abuse people, at the end of the day they are MOBILE PHONES, if you haven't got anything constructive to say, don't say it?

@goldenface imo the funny thing is, that one newspaper writes pro the other contras according a mobile ( or more ) and even its the same device and they have the same "facts", weird to see the results...

all i wanna say is, that its all about the money, which brand pays more for a positive review

ps imo u, dogmann and some others would offer far better and more objective articles then those clowns at those magazines

Agree with mweb. Every phone has its defects, let me list some nokia defects.

My N71 fails to read my memory card on numerous occasions. Its not the card problem, its a common N71 problem.

N76 has abysmal construction with its color peeling off and the phone cant open fully with the headphones plugged in, thats just retarded.

N80 was a piece of garbage when it came out. Even now it remains the buggiest N series phone.

N95 sells for 800$ yet they cant make a worthwhile slider mechanism.

5700, which is a music phone comes with a 2.5mm jack, thats retarded again.

3250, also a music phone, has lame sound quality.

Nokia still cant make a camera to compete with SE, they still fall short, though by a short margin.

7390 hangs up when recording video in VGA res.

All nokia 7xxx series have been tremendous flops!

So not everyone's perfect.

@Goldenface

Maybe you should actually read what i have said i never claimed that these problems still exist or that they have lasted for the life of the device have i?

What i have said is that when it was first launched and for a period of time after people suffered from this faulty EROM problem. This means it makes it hard to claim that this device has had a low return rate, i really can't see the difficulty you have in accepting this simple fact. You even admit it happened so how can i be wrong then?

Any way enough of this garbage because to be honest who really gives a dam you are talking about old devices now and this thread is trying to claim that the K850 will be the best and from the current results from some of the reviewers that may no be as certain as many of you seem to wish for. Only once all these devices hit the shelves Will we be able to see what comes out on top. But the one real advantage SE had the Xenon flash will no longer be unique to them and Nokia seem to be improving the quality of the pictures their cameras take really fast and are doing great job IMO.

@QVGA

Yes but I would still maintain that Nokia incorporates great technology into its devices and is very often the first to market with it too. It has some great stuff coming up which is good news for all, regardless of which one sells best.

@Dogmann

The K800i had issues initially, which a lot of devices do, but then went on to become hugely successful with a low return rate.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing the N82 comparison which should be interesting as Shaliron has posted info regarding a redesigned K850i with DVB-H and GPS.

I hope they also rip out that CMOS sensor and throw in a CCD sensor instead. I don't know what that Cybershot tag is doing on the K850 except spoiling the reputation of Sony's real cameras.

I know what you're saying and I would make the same argument but apparently, the word on the streets is, CMOS is more than adequate. I'm prepared to live with that, however I wiill admit I'm at the mercy of people who are better informed than me.
