How can you be sure of that???
U seem to be experts saying that the purple ting is based on the LENS...
The N73 had the purple ting, which was later sorted with firmware updates....????
Best thing is to wait and see what the quality is like... if your happy then fine otherwise go with the presious N95 or any other 5MPX phone.

Im saying that this could just simply be a firmware problem... and not the problem you are mentioning.
So that is why I say you have to wait and see the result.

Some people seem to confuse purple fringe with purple tint ! Mweb is absolutely right. Tint is firmware related while the fringe is lens related. The former can be corrected by software/firmware, unfortunately the later can not.

Don't you think that this experience has given them enough expertise into CMOS technology? Enough with the CMOS vs CCD already! Both have their pros and cons and I'm sure that a company with Sony's resources has looked at both options before deciding on CMOS.

Why do you bring in DSLRs into the comparison?
DSLR cameras usually have very large CMOS sensors, which of course produces excellent photos with very low noise. But when you're talking about the small sensors used in PS (point-and-shoot) cameras and the even smaller sensors used in camera phones, then noise becomes very high. Maybe this is the reason why we haven't seen more PS cameras with CMOS sensors so far? Currently, there's only one:
Kodak C513. Look at the specs. What is the highest ISO-rating? Then compare that with the
D2X and
D300.
Do you think the K850i is more similar to a DSLR than a PS camera?
Let us see when the first production models appear whether SE has managed to solve the issues we have seen so far in the samples photos and still appear in the photos in GSMarena.com's shootout.
BTW, the
Sony Alpha (DSLR-A100) doesn't have a CMOS sensor.

It does, It's an APS Type C CMOS sensor! same with Canon EOS 400D XTi Rebel!

10 megapixel APS-C CCD
Interestingly Sony has gone for CCD rather than CMOS with this camera, so it's not the same sensor as used in the DSC-R1. We've no official confirmation but it seems likely that this is the same 23.6 x 15.8 mm CCD used in the Nikon D200.

Guys, stop. dont fight, wait for the results till the k850i final version comes out. The cam quality can change or might. See the GSM ARENA, said none of the phones performed well right. Study the review well. Main problem is the representation of colours. sony are the best of producing pictures in Macro shots rigtht, but thats not the case of k850i. I am pretty sure that this is a driver problem, not the hardware.
Yes n95 has got bigger sensor size, any way the battle is on. its 31:34 not 11:34 right.
even K850I has got, edge, hscsd, 3,5g, walkman player 3.0, UI Rotate, etc, and it going to cost less than N95 in cost. So.......
See how can we expect slim design, with such massive cameras. k750i camera is 4.8mm while k550i is 3.8mm. look at the difference for going to slim design.
Wait for K850i complete review from GSMARENA OR MOBILE REVIEW.
Then decide which one to buy. Stop fighting NOKIA VS SONY. We fans fight not them
Look at how bulgy the N95, compared to sony k850i. right. look at the S700i CCD camera, but how bulky it is. so accept the fact.
If N95 wins. accept it. No harm to sony. May be they can catch up next time.
I am sure if sony is not interested in creating better drivers. there are good camera modders in esato, who can do the job for us.
I have w810i with modded cam driver, work far better than the stock driver.
So be calm, and accept the fact.
