if we do this will we not need the software that comes only with the w960i to load music onto the the P1i, for the album art etc

or can this be done easily on UIQ phones?
If so can someone post a guide.

I could be wrong but I think the w960 reads the imbedded album art, whereas the p1i requires that you place the album art as a separate file.

this rings a bell, but he appears to have album art in the video but i suppose he has a w960i, oh well we'll see when he's finished, soon i hope, but it would be a bit useless without album art,

i'm planning on using the w960i theme file on my p1i until he's done, maybe then though i wont even see the point in risking my warranty, bricking my phone or the time it will take lol. I mean if you're forced to have your p1i say walkman on the front all the time you will look a bit silly to others, but i just really like how the w960i's screen is less cluttered.

If im not mistaken the w960i has the option of the today screen same as the p1i, only thing is you have to enable it. the default screen is the walkman screen, where as its the opposite with the p1i. I cant wait for this hack to be done. Although to be honest i still might buy the w960i to get a feel for it and see if i can live without the keyboard. The advantage of this hack will come into play when they release the 12 or 16 gb m2 cards next xmas.

I think it's really better to have the today screen than a big walkman logo.
What would be perfect is just replace the P1i player with the walkman player, by deleting the corresponding file and uploading the new player files and the same with the media files manager). Is that already be done with previous phones? (w810 player in K750)? Or we necessarely have to flash the whole firmware?

Your correct. My W960i has Walkman or Business option for the main display & I use the Business option which is same as the P1i but also shows the music visualisation on the today screen while music is playing. Pretty neat really.

Mainly (or only) the walkman software. P1i music player is not that great, W960 player should be (a lot) better... Other then that, not much.

As mentioned before, I have seen a video of how the walkman software works and its many options and features, and it absolutely blows the p1i music player out of the water.

I really cant go back to a traditional keyboard after using the p1i....but the music software isnt really as good as i want it to be. This conversion would be ideal for me, but the risk of bricking my phone and voiding my warranty is just too much.

I believe it can be done because one was able to have the m600i running the w950i fw with the keyboard and m2 slot still working. Its just a matter of time. I believe it has been held up due to the fact that the fw for the w960i wasnt fully available until about 2 weeks ago.

I like pieos idea of just replacing the media player files instead of flashing the fw and then trying to hack the keyboard and memory slot, it seems simpler that way. However i myself lack the technical savyness to pull it off. The p1i and w960i are identical in the apps that they offer that you wouldnt stand to lose anything unlike when you did it with the m600i to w950i (You lost the office apps).
