Just to share,
In my P990 m.youtube plays perfectly on 3G,
but no luck on WiFi, it was buffering up to 100% but no video,
but it could be wlan router/connection problem.

Don't know if this has already been posted?

I just forwarded the following ports on my Wireless router and m.youtube now works.

TCP 554
UDP 6970-9999
TCP 7070

Still doesn't play on my P1i. Works on my friends Palm 700, but not the p1.

I think its still a media player issue on the p1. I'm just curious as to how some phones don't have the issue while others do. This is what's weird. You all know the flashing globe on the status bar that indicates that internet data is being transferred thru the phone; well, that flashes for the duration of the clip in my phone. Say for example if I try to play a clip that's 45 seconds long, the globe seems to flash that long. And its been this way from the start for me, even before forwarding any ports, etc. (Netgear Router) So this seems to indicate that the data is being transferred, but the media player just can't recognize the clip/format.

I'm not claiming this to be true, its just a possibility, I'm not sure if others have observed this same behaviour.

I just wanted to add to my previous post.

Before I forwarded the ports I also got the flashing globe, but nothing happens apart from the % complete going from 0% to 100%. After forwarding the ports I still get the flashing globe but the % complete now goes up in steps. My Phone is actually a Hong Kong phone, but I changed the CDA number and re-flashed with Generic World 1 from SEUS.

My router is a Linksys WRT56GC.

My hunch is that most users who have the GW1 P1s can play videos off of m.youtube.com. And the rest of them with GW1 might be having router issues?

Anyone care to verify? I think my phone turned out to be French firmware or something when I checked it up on the Wiki page.

This in NOT a router issue.

The problem also happens to a large number of users irrespective of whether they connect via WLAN, 3G or GPRS

Mm, I agree. Could be it's a router- issue too, but it seems there's something going on with the media- player.

Okay,
Bit of further invesigation and not being a technical guru.....

I CAN now get the P1i to stream from m.youtube.com using WLAN by either opening up ports on the router or assigninging the P1i to the DMZ on the router.

BUT........

It still WONT stream on 3G or GPRS ????????s

Has this now got something to do with the way the P1i itself handles connections as obviously its now not a media player issue but a communications issue.
