Is the W980i going to be based on UIQ 3 or the new UIQ 4 or whateverh that the P5i is going to use ? ?
AFAIK, it will have some new UI very similar to PSP, so I guess it will have UIQ4 instead of UIQ3 and I hope my guess is true...

yeh, when you first noted it may have OMAP2430, I googled it and I found that there's two very similar chips with OMAP2430 & OMAP2431 names...
I hope it have OMAP2430 rather than OMAP2431

Yeah, 2min later I decided they may not go for the 3D accelerated 2430 and choose the cheaper OMAP2431.

nope, AFAIK Maria will have d-pad + 6 keys with no other keys ( = no key pad = on screen keypad )

Hi all,
Could some one please explain why they feel this device may have one of the OMAP 24 series chip's as not only are these Chips now getting old they were first seen in the Nokia N93. But they are also very shortly due to be superseded by the release of the OMAP series 3 chip which will offer great advancements not just in speed which will rise to 600mhz to 1ghz but also will offer higher quality graphic output and also be more power efficient.
Also someone else is claiming that SE is going to use the Qualcomm chips in their next generation devices.
Currently the OMAP 2420 is my chip of preference but i am looking forward to the vastly improved OMAP series 3 chips coming in our devices next year why would SE want to use this Year's chip in next Years devices as surely this would put their devices at a disadvantage before they are even released.
Marc

I think OMAP2430/2431 will be used. R&D of Maria was started a long time ago, so it won't use the OMAP3 chipsets. Long ago, active noise-cancelation was among the rumoured specs of Maria. At that time, ANC could be achieved only by OMAP2430/OMAP2431(by the companion chip TWL4030 in particular)
High quality graphic output isn't the focus of Maria. Maria is mainly music flagship and then everything else.
And again, I supposed SE will use Qualcomm chipsets(Snapdragon platform). But SE have signed contract with TI, so it looks close to impossible now.
SE will use OMAP3 series chipsets in late 2008. Mass shipping of OMAP3 is scheduled for H2/2008, so SE won't be quite late, considering that Maria should be out in Q1/Q2/2008. Also, UIQ4 won't need so much power and OMAP3 won't be required.
