SE have spurned the high end in favour of a stronger mid range market. This is arguably a good strategy, though not a good one for UIQ supporters We have yet to see whether SE are really interested in recouping the high end market.

I think you are dead right, they should be recognising UIQ for the great platform it is and throw some better hardware at it rather than dicking around with phones that have too slow processors and no HSDPA.

X1 is an interesting strategy, but I think WM can only be a small segment to appeal to the WM market, which is tiny compared to Nokia s60 for example. UIQ can bring the SE high and mid range into direct competition with s60 across a broader range of handsets than they could hope to cover with WM.

Imagine G900 with HSDPA for example? Now that would be a cool Nokia dominator (I'm already interested in G900 as it is)

Infact SE's introduction of the G series gives me hope they haven't given up on UIQ just yet.

Exactly. With touch- screen devices, and non- touch screen devices. With large screens and small screens. Imagine if they just pulled out two units on UIQ - one optimized for touch, and the other for d-pad. ..really, it's as if they want to f**k up.

Or what if they had an idea, and decided to make every UIQ unit fit with the latest UIQ version. Just to make sure every unit in sale at the moment would be bleeding edge, and selling more than anything else. With for example a basis package, full OS, message and contact app, basic program and desktop environment - and then supply add- ons you could buy on top of it in cooperation with their "real customers" in the telecoms industry. Or "optionally" elsewhere, if that it would - unlikely as it would seem to SE - still be a tiny, tiny, possibility for happening. And then they could continue to don't do anything but the basic implementation before sending the units on.

But what's wrong with that? Imo - they just have to wait until someone else does it first. So they can say - damn, that's something we should really have done years ago - but the leadership's backbone was unfortunately lost and gone, while they had to fire half the marketing team and half of the engineers to pay for tennis- stars. And then be really happy about telling their customers they should be happy with what they have, and buy their shitty products for a ridiculous amount of money. Or else, you see, you don't support new technology, and then newer technology may never be made!

Really! Poor SE who can't fix bugs between the releases that are two years apart! Buy another unit now, and they may start to fix bugs again! Only you can help!

I think many posts in this thread here were posting without experiencing any of UIQ devices.

They just speculating or maybe just quoting
other ppl bad experience with UIQ and just jumping into conclusion "yea yea UIQ is gonna die" , "SE is failed with UIQ" , "they gonna die slowly" , "uiq is full of bug"

Trully that kind of comment somewhat is sickening me...
I know, you know UIQ is far from dying. They are just having a fresh start

That's true. But that's no reason to excuse SE's attempt at using UIQ on their phones. Which is incredible, in that it's both lazy and full of faults - as well as seriously limiting. While the hardware on every UIQ unit is, obviously, not very good - which wouldn't again be an issue if SE actually worked on their solution with any direction.

But UIQ is still more visible now than it has ever been, and it's also better than it was before. So it's obviously wrong to say UIQ is slowly dying for that reason. It's more correct to say UIQ is continuously not taking off in spite of being an extremely good and flexible solution for deploying very different types of devices on the market - when the technology is there, and the market is ready. And that's a crying shame.

(Of course - if anyone can pay that retard in the basement a visit with a baseball- bat, I would be grateful.)

That one guy who keeps writing the: "anything with OMAP ownz yoo" stories. Sure.. it's repeated by everyone covering mobile tech, and is typically considered to be an undeniable truth - but that's just coincidence. It's that one retard in the basement who's to blame, I'm sure of it.
