I guess each OS has its pros and cons, but as I don't play games on PC, I'm doing fine without Vista..

you may have heard a rumour that Vista is a virus ... no, vista is not a virus. here's what viruses do:
they replicate quickly. ok, vista does that.
viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so. ok, vista does that.
viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk. ok... vista does that, too.
viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. sigh ... vista does that too.
viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow and the user will buy new hardware. yup, that's with vista, too.
until now it seems that vista might in fact be a virus, but there are some differences.
viruses are well supported by their authors, run on most systems and are universally compatible.
their program code is fast, compact, efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature.
so, windows vista is
not a virus.

Been using Vista for a year now and it works just fine. I used to dual and triple boot Vista with various Linux distros, and I am back on Vista, full time... I realized that it was just way too much time wasted on the net to get things working on my laptop...
There was not one virus entering my PC running Vista in the past year, apart from XP, which was getting a reformat every once in a while. Same stories were also at that time when XP was released so this comes as no surprise. Vista is a great OS AFAIC.
Even on 2Gb RAM, 1.83 D2D and DreamScene switched on it works flawlessly..

The fact of the matter is that Windows is far more popular, it always was, and always will be. There's a reason for its popularity. If MAC was so much better people would use it, but they dont.
All around the world people worship Apple products. Why is it that of all their products, OSx is the one that very very few people use?

Sorry to digress guys but since we are sort of speaking of "viruses" I have a query and didn't want to start another thread. My subscription with McAfee is running out this month and am not really keen on renewing since reading on Computer Shopper that Kaspersky is better than the former. Could you guys help out on which Anti-virus solution should I go for? I'm not confining myself only on Kaspersky , any other that is better is welcomed. Thanks in advance.

If you're paying, you might as well go for the cream of the crop. Kaspresky or Symantec
