If its with a contract, then its gonna be expensive overall.
but $199 sounds good with no contract

on one of the pages on apple.com it definitely says about a 24 month contract in the US.
And they're not exactly going to break there agreement with o2.
Why else would they have an agreement with only 1 operator in each country if they were going to begin selling it sim free. It will be pretty much the same as the first iPhone.

I've registered my interest. The wife's already told me she's having my old iPhone in July - I had no choice!
Also:
Tom Tom to be released for iPhone

Hi all,
The price is really good fro what you get but will any of the things like MobileMail, or the more interactive features work through the Apple Servers? if you don't activate it via iTunes?
Personally i really like the MobileMail app and all that it provides for 99$ a year.In fact i like nearly all of the improvements but the problem i had with my first one still exist.
It not's what most of you would guess firstly the Web app not remembering the size you want and needing to be expanded for each page. In Calendar having to use that spinning clock to enter the time drove me nuts. Those were the two that really drove me nuts and made me sell it.
But at this price i may well try one again to see if i like it any better, but i do wonder if you will need a contract to access many of the features. If you do this will really of been a brilliant move by Apple to combat Jail braking IMO.
As for this Intelligent and scouser
"but for me iPhone wins clearly. Watching movies / photos / surfing / mp3 / just playing around / .. - can`t be done better on any other phone right now. "
I have to say for Watching Movies/surfing/Documents/Calendar/Clocks and Alarms/ SatNav/Skype
My E90 is for me much better than the iPhone was in fact only Photo's and Music where better on the iPhone.

So for me to have the same contract that I'm on atm its going to cost me £42.50 a month as I would have to add a bolt on.
Hmm thats not too bad!
But my contract doesnt run out till december
Oh well gives me alot of time to think! Lol!

Wow, Apple made so much money out of the first iphones that they wouldn't be making any loss if they give these 3g ones for free. No wonder they are so cheap
