I have been doing quite a bit of reading on the topic of the legality of raffles, mostly from the government/state lottery departments of English speaking countries, specifically UK, US and Australia.
It seems there is a concept of a private raffle or lottery but this is only open to a single place such as school, members of a club or workplace etc. i.e. its a confined number of people not the general public. However, in all cases the tickets must be sold and drawn on the same day for it to fit into this category and also the tickets must be of low value in the order of £1/$2 etc
from what I've read it seems that Esato will not fit into any category which does not require a licence since we are not in a single place, nor would we be likely to sell all the tickets and do the draw on the same day and nor would tickets of low value work either.
I'd suggest this idea is not viable but the final decision goes to laffen, of course

F1 - are you some sort of windup merchant? I object, and others will I hope as well, to being called an uneducated person just because I disagree with you trying to get the full price back for a phone you obviously bought in error!
You are a relative newcomer to this site - there are many others who have commented and given their opinion and have been on here a damn site longer than the couple of months like yourself. You have perhaps not been here long enough to find out what this site is all about. The last raffle was a one off, or I thought it was, not a way of opening the flood gates for people to off load the phones they would not be able to sell by some other method!
Please keep your "uneducated" comments to yourself!

Suppose so, Esato is hosted in Norway and online gambling isn't allowed there.

Im going to say no, although people organised one for me, we had to get PeterKay involved as the middle man which was hasstle for him, and also required a lot of organisation.
I am greatfull to the people that did it for me though

Lets hope there is no retrograde punishment leading to a reversal of the raffle
I guess raffles won't be allowed so isn't it time to lock this thread ?

Does this mean my G600 is illegitimate property and I'm going to get a knock on the door from some Norwegian cop? hmmmmmm
I see so reason why it can't work, rules are;
1) All tickets are £5 each on all raffles
2) Raffle lead in time should be a week or so
3) There should be a group of people that are available to do the actual draw
4) People doing draw are not allowed to enter the draw, I.e. If PK is pulling the winner, he can't be in that draw
5) As PK did, photo evidence needs to be providing to show who won and that it was far etc....
Also, there's a difference between a raffle and a lottery surely? a raffle someone is guaranteed to win, whereas, on a lottery no one or many people have the potential to win?

No, you're not getting a knock on the door from some Norwegian cop

.
Laffen could get one, though.
