I've tried it in the past, but I'll try the proxy you use and see. But I'm pretty sure most countries will have blocked off this kind of access, otherwise everyone would be using this method.

You know there are many other ways aside from using proxies. If we are using the modded version of Opera Mini, we use a different trick. You can check out my posts under Asia Pacific regional forums.

tbh I highly doubt vodafone, optus, telstra or 3 would allow this to occur. They would be making sure all their gprs usage is accounted for (ie charged out). This would be the same for any of the large multinational operator's I expect.
Though it's great you can get it free, internet here is still bloody expensive.

Yesterday i tried downloading a JAR file with opera mini 4.2 but it redirected to the inbuilt browser and the OM closed

why is it so ???

Because there's no SAVE option. Of course if you will click OPEN, it will go to the default browser. It really happens that there's no SAVE option. I'm also encountering that when i'm downloading in wap.mobango.com.

Yah i do agree with you. I understand your point. We're just so lucky that our network here have a lot of loopholes. Hehe. Anyway, hope you'll find a way to browse the internet for free on your phone.
