Yes, I know, but my fingers are crosed for something more substantial than R2A we have been downloading. Like R3A...I know it's wishful thinking

Yes you can backup them up and restoring them later on.
Otherwise no, it'll wipe out everything.

^^^ You have to purchase a backup program such as spb Backup. There are probably freeware ones too, but I don't know of them or their quality.

So SE didn't give anything away in the box? That's pretty tight. WM rom upgrades always delete all data, and there were always going to be a few updates for this phone, so a backup utility is a must.
