There are almost no problem in built quality of candybars from , except some of early units of K850.
I see that the problems recently comes with sliders like W995 or C905.

i guess the phone manufacturers have to rush release their products to beat others specs and features and dont have time to fully test.

I've W995, got mine in 2 july 2009. Great phone & i've never an issue with that, build quality is much better than C905, C902 & K850i, it could be better, but i'm very happy with my phone. I had k850i, C902 & C905 before, K850i was a great phone, i loved it but it had buggy FW, i sent it to service 6 times in 11 months. But among these 4 phones (K850i, C902, C905, W995) i feel W995 is the best

basically the issues surrounding SE's phones are bad build quality/unstable software and i noted that most of the problems happened to some of middle/high end phones which uses SE's Proprietary FW.

is that means SE doesn't have enough competent engineers to perform R&D both in the hardware/software engineering and imo these are the root causes of all problems. i either would like not to think that SE is just incorporated the walkman and cybershot tradename not the technology into their products (for whatever reasons) and there you are.... a sub standard build quality and buggy firmware.

well, it is just an opinion and i never encounter any problems with SE's phones...lucky me

Hi there ,sorry to hear about your W995i...

I had also few problems with mine W995, so many that i do not use it anymore.

back to my P1i and my 2 new! W800i.

Found the sound quality very poor and the camera had only written 8,1 mp,but i made better pictures with 1,3mp camera.

I do care about my phones,and all of them still look like new and work like new,i do not need a new phone ,have many,so the next one i will buy it must be really good,something i will really want.if not i will stay with my older phones

Well that's not strictly a software issue what you think of the picture quality. I did not think the camera lived up to my expectations but i would not go as far as saying its as bad as a 1.3 mega pixel camera. It was my first 8 mega pixel camera phone and pics were not bad but not amazing they suffered from poor purple fringing and some blur. But that was not my problem my problem was its build quality for such a high end phone and the software on the ones i had were buggy. I think it is down to who is running the company and i am annoyed because we have the Sony name behind these phones and they are sometimes so so poor. I am actually quite sad because i miss how good and reliable they used to be. Things will change for the better i am sure.

Not true at all. Few months ago I had the G900... totally piece of crap. The screen got stained in one inside corner. It looked like dust but it was actually a stain that just wouldn't come off!!! I opened the phone up but there was no way to clean it up. Just amazing to me how the sreen got stained like that, it was a brand new SE !!! After that incident I will never ever buy a SE again. So disappointed! Later I got a N85, what a difference!

You're always quick to ostracise your own W995, perhaps due to very high expectations when you bought it for the price it had, that's understandable but let's not exaggerate. I still have both W800 and S700 in my hands, while I think of both flagship SE's highly, W995 has clearer sound than W800 with the eq settings I use and W995 definitely takes sharper, better saturated and coloured images than S700. S700 used to be my dedicated digicam for 2 years and my wife's W800 has always been the benchmark I use for mobile audio quality. Just because it doesn't suit you doesn't mean you should veer everyone away from it

@mr. julius
W995 is definitely a wiser choice than C902, seriously mate. Bonovox has just been unlucky, I'm sure of that. I think W995 has the least build quality issues of the current lineup considering its slider form factor and I think it has something to do with SE's acknowledgement of their own manufacturing flaws a while ago. Unfortunately, there will be those doomed sets that would find their way to the consumers' hands

Wipe the connector with a clean cloth or better yet ,alcohol swab. It might just be dust preventing proper connection. If it persists, the internal part might be damaged. Apparently the newer fastport (wider compared to A1 phones) is prone to wear and tear damage due to poor design (something about some thin, flimsy part being used which would easily break with force), an SE technician friend of mine disclosed
