not sure why you psted this in the rumors section, but i agree. oreo on my XZP is awesome. wish there were some features implemented, but if this is a sign of how sony is doing software going forward, i have high hopes for the 2018 line. can't wait to see the new design language. sony should make an essentially bezelless phone with a camera that blows everyone except maybe google (i don't think anybody can win against google's machine learning based image processing), out of the water. and this sentiment should be shared by everyone, not just sony lovers like us. when sony releases a flagship device that the reviewers at the verge can't stop raving about, is when you know sony has done everything right. i personally think sony is capable. just a matter of whether they do it or not.

i look forward to 2020 when it'll be time for my upgrade

didn't know you went from Z3 to XZP o.O

I was just imagining if Sony had produced an Xperia ZL successor, it would have led the current trend towards bezeless phones.

The Verge is the equivalent to the Daily Mail, something you wipe your arse with. At least GSM and Phone arenas test the devices and actually if you read the reviews, they do their job regardless of the final scores.

I agree the verge is not reputable by any means. but they have always consistently trashed sony phones in their reviews. if sony produces a phone that even the verge is forced to praise, then that device will be pretty much perfect.

@supercoolman - nah.. just probably wanted to add to the conversation

@goldenface - that's so true. i have a feeling sony will be forced to join the bezeless trend and we'll see that in 2018, so you may not be far off. the fact that sony maintains its squared corners also gives the illusion of larger bezels compared to the curved ones on other devices.

good and bad news

I just heard updates about 2018 xperia from someone close to sony internal that next "real" flagship won't be released until fall 2018,

The new xperia announced in MWC 2018 and released between spring-summer is a model like Xperia Z3+,X performance, XZs which are generally considered semi/pre flagship.

This quasi-flagship xperia, like already rumored, has new name and new design, but it's position is somewhat like that of xperia x performance - the first model of X series.

CPU on this device is undecided.

Good aspect though is that 2018 fall models ("real" flagship) will most likely "trio", just like Xperia Z5 series (Z5,Z5C,Z5P)

I personally think it makes sense considering premium xperia's release cycle is 1.5 year.
