Why don't they just let us use GPRS for free forever? I mean, the service providers aren't exactly making a loss if they provide us with free GPRS, they earn heaps a day anyway from call charges and text messages! It's something I'd like to see in the future.

In the Philippines, with the GLobe carrier GPRS is FREE if surfing using your phone. But if your using your mobile phone connected to a laptop or PDA, that would be approximately $0.30/kbps

pretty nice for some of you. Im with Connex Romania, and without monthly fees its 4$/MB (10KB packs) for WAP GPRS.
If you pay 3$ a month WAP GPRS or 5$/month full internet they charge only 2$/MB.
Alltogether its a decent pricing for sporadic WAP emailing when im not home or the cable is down. If id be using regular WAP id need to sell my t39 to pay the bill

For wap its ok, but if I want to go on a \"normal\" website where one page is about 250kb, I normally use HSCSD, cause it takes me about 2min to open such a page, and 2min cost me only about 0,5US$, whereas over GPRS it would cost me about 1,8US$...

surely it can't cost service providers much to provide us with the GPRS service, they are probably making about 500% profit, there must be some way around the charges...
