One thing I have noticed on ebay with the Z1010 is theres this one auction that is exactly the same but when it ends and starts up again it’s a different sellers name and he’s always got 0 feedback so you know that’s a scam but if your careful you shouldn’t get robbed

@nyemie, Why not read some of the tips on this thread to detect fraud, that site shows a valid London address (9 Franthorne way) but no LANDLINE number which is almost ALWAYS given on a retail site, also this address is a flat which could just be a postal address with a post office forwarding service (So nobody actually living there) so do the test, ask if you can pick up a phone in person, lots of Esato members live in London & that address is near the South circular road in London.
Note, if you DO plan to visit that area of London with cash, take a couple of heavies with you !!

Anyway the English is terrible loads of stuff is missing & going by the descriptions of things on the wheels page, that guy knows NOTHING about the things he is selling AT ALL.

God this thread is just what i've been looking for
i registered with eby there about a week ago because im interested in getting a motorola A920, no sooner had i bid on a phone that i got an email from a guy offering me the same phone at half the price id bid
he daid his name was Dumitru ilie with email and user name for ebay impexcom2003 @yahoo.com i was very dubious but said yea id be interested if he did COD and id give him an extra 50Euro for the trouble i never heard back from him so i did a search on Google for "phone scams Dumitru ilie" and i got an internet fraud forum that listed him as a fraudster!! mad or what??

then the guy whos auction i was bidding on contacted me and said as i was the highest bidder did i want the phone if he ended the bidding early!! i was delighted as im looking for this phone and i cant get it here in ireland, he gave me an email address to pay him with as he took payment through paypal, well when i went to the Confirm payment page the mail address he gave me to send the money was different to the account registerd to that name!! so i was very suspicious so i contacted him (email) and asked him for the imei number of the phone because i can verify the model of the phone to the Serial numnber, for my security i said, he told me the box was sealed and he didnt want to open itif i wasnt gonna buy it??!! so thern i asked him would he deliver COD registered post and id give him an extra 50 euro and i never heard from him again
then i looked at my feedback, -1??? i was Pi$$ed, so i got on to ebay, who have suspended him as they found out he'd ripped other people off
but now im stuck with -1 feedback, and ebay have not got back to me, i even emailed paypal to verify this guy and i got no reply,

-1 and ive never bought or sold anything on ebay!!
i'd be very cautious of ebay

hope ya'll got what i was trying to say!!
Thanks

(btw im still loooking for a A920 will trade with brand new N6800!!)

In general there's a lot of fraud going on. On QXL I found some great offers from this guy. He was selling some 8910is, 8910s, 6610s - basically what was new and hot at the time. It was not shockingly cheap, about 10% under what the market price for used items was, so I made a bid.
Gave him a ring, talked to him, mailed with him etc.
He insisted that I would pay in advance because he had been tricked before.
"Okay, this guy seems alright, he has plenty of recommendations" I thought. Went into the bank and asked them to transfer the money.

The next day I got a mail from QXL telling me that he was all fake, and that he had moved to Thailand.
Luckily, my bank had not completed the transaction.

To prevent these kind of things, when the salesman insists on advance payment, I usually tells him that I can pay about 30% of the price, and he will get the remaining part when I get my package(c.o.d.). Make sure that you got the full name and adress of the person you're dealing with, and that he is "for real"(not fake ID etc.).

It will not prevent you from beeing frauded, but it will prevent the damages.

What you did is an excellent way to try to get a better answer on validity of the phones existence. Every Cell phone I have ever bought has that info printed on the outside of the box, sometimes even simcard numbers are printed there too. I have bought one (p800) from ebay after verifying it was blacklisted for $50 for parts that way I have an extra screen, jog dial, switches, flip and housing etc. he he... he wanted way more but I told him I would report him for selling blacklisted/stolen merchandise... now this is where paypal come in handy... he has to have a valid account to use this service and it was the only way I would pay... so if I didnt get the item, paypal can go after his bank account with his info. but it arrived

Is it the case that P800s are the most sought after item in Indonesia (ever!!) or have all the fraudsters in the world just relocated there (maybe there's a fraudster convention going on at the moment)?

When I was selling one of my P800s last week I got over 20 mails from Indonesia and every one of them wanted to pay via credit card (all with remarkably English sounding names). Not one of 'em wanted to deal via Paypal.

Well all I can say is if this has caught a ebay fraudster then great. The more of these we catch the better. I had no idea that this would go this far, but like I say if has stopped someone lossing alot of money then that is what this forum is all about. We should try to contact ebay to sort this out. Maybe we should ask a few more details about the phones before contacting ebay and list all the findings here, then when we are all satisfied contact ebay.

Ebay is a conman's paradise, the sooner they authenticate everyone with skype's voice recognition and a video software the better

Holy thread revival Batman!

That comment coming from someone with a link in their (rather large) signature for getting back on Ebay after being suspended or banned....
