maybe we would have a more intelectual gaming society if people didnt think games were free on mobiles there would be more respect for the game developers

So the fact that software has been pirated since the year dot doesn't mean it's going to be any different now.
I think the only reason this bothers you is because you claim to be a developer and have a chance to make money. Are you trying to tell me that you have paid for every piece of software on your computer? Nothing illegitimate at all?
Now with mophun being an open development type environment, it allows any Joe Bloggs who can use a compiler to develop mobile device software. Are we expected to pay for amatuer quality software?
It's not about people having respect for developers. I really don't think people care who developed a game. Sure I know that Blizzard made WarCraft III, but I have no idea who made Honey Cave 2. Nor do I care. People can have all the respect in the world for a developer, but they are still going to prefer a free alternative.

Why should you have to pay for any??
You don't see people charging money for community developed software that runs on Linux do you? Some of the best apps ever written are open source. Have a look at sourceforge.
If you are so worried about your software being 'pirated', don't release it. If you are worried about losing out on a couple of dollars, take up a weekend job.
Erk...I've been discovered! I knew I shouldn't have put my location in :P

- Because of the time and effort to produce a game

I know but how many games are developed for sourceforge its mainly a "project portal" apps arent games
Im worried about good games becoming too expensive for the normal user because of people sharing them and not making it a viable business model
Open Source doesnt mean free.

@WildNomad:
I'm gonna check again mophungames website...
Before, I wasn't able to... I'm sure of that. You had to select the location you are and I was not in the list. Website was saying "download to the phone only"
If they changed to this way you explained, then, well, I'm glad of it!
By the way, is it indiscreet to ask you what programs did you delevoped?
Good Luck!

Moment in silence from me?? Sorry. I am at work at the moment :P
Good games are expensive. That is why we paid $90AU for a new copy of Diabo 2 when it originally.
I don't believe that piracy changes the pricing of games. People will still pay for them. To my mind, a good game is rated by the amount of devices it is running on...not the money made from it. I would continue to produce games just with the knowledge that people are playing them. If I worked for a gaming company, you're right, I'd get paid either way, so it wouldn't matter.
I don't think anti-piracy is a cause worth fighting for. It's all just a matter of personal opinion...I'm sure for every 1 person you convince to pay for software, another 10 have discovered channels of free software.
