AIUI, this is correct. The new dark blue sticks are also MagicGate, and have this 'faster interface'.

I wasn't sure of the difference between dark blue and white... I don't see how it can work any faster over a serial interface, so it seems strange to me. However there must be some difference!
Back to eXpansys... I wrote to them asking to confirm whether the 256MB Duo they were getting would work with the P800, this was their reply...

Sony are discontinuing the white MagicGate Duos, and introducing 'different' ones. Not entirely sure of the difference, but I know they're definately not white!

Well if they interduce new stick and they are not white they will not be magicgate!!
White - magic gate sony protection
Pink - Aibo sony dog!
Purple - for everthing else!
