Im sorry but I have to disagree - I dont think Im being to harsh - Im only telling the fact as they are. I am not in any way bending the facts. Im giving a fair comparison between the T610 and other similar sized camphones - im not attacking the T610 as a camdevice in itself or the idea of camphones in general - which I agree with you are more a toy than anything else. I am simply comparing equal devices - and in that comparison the T610 falls very short.
1: There are very obvious yellow/golden colorspots floating all over the picture of the plaze - this is not due to the photographer taking the picture but due to the cameras poor handling of colorbalance. The unsharpness and lack of detail could to some extent be caused by a nonsteady hand of the photographer - but only to some extent and the sad truth is that it is propably not. I have witnessed the same problem no matter how steady I hold the T610 cam.
2: Its not marketed as a useless toy, but as a camphone in the same line as similar camphones from competing manufacturers. But it simply does not deliver anything but a useless toy. It should be of equal quality as other camphones using the same cif size cameras. If it cannot then it should have been marketed different - or it may substitute false marketing.
3: I have read several comparitive tests between many camphones and the T610 allways ends up in the absolute buttom. It does that for a reason - not just because Im to harsh
As a hobby digitalkamera photographer myself I naturally do agree with you that camphones of today are simply toys - and Im quite comfortable with that - therefore my point is not in itself that the camera in T610 is poor - this is to be expected - only that it is poorer than its competitors

Basically you are missing the point by stating that this should be expected in such a small camera and comparing it to the hubble space telescope - that is a rubbish statement - propably caused by your biased feelings for SE. I am comparing cif camphones with other cif camphones - of which one particular cif cam are of subpar quality compared to the other cif camphones which does not suffer from the same lack of quality despite they are of the same size. I dont know how I can make it more clear than that

And even if you think it should be expected from a cam of this size then it should also be expected from the other equal sized cams - but funny enough they do not have this problem - which clearly show its not just a matter of size but more so a matter of the quality of the lens.

@the real s: i can see ur point. I am not defending the phone but i am not a photographer,i dont have a digicam(dont need 1), so i use this phone all the time, keep and cherish the pix i take with it. Comes very handy at all times and i'll continue2buy these. For me,the shot at one particular moment is what matters, quality has lesser importance.

the t610 is older than most of the others - which leads me to think that either it has an older, very cheap half-assed camera, or that the software is not as proficient at image enhancement/processing as in the other phones. at the time it was announced there wasn't all that much around to compare it with.

Does anyone know if the camera/lens in the new Z600 is a better quality one than that in the T610? I've never had a flip phone and since the Z600 is suposed to be just like the T610, I thought it would be a fun upgrade. Just wondering if the camera is the exact same.

I'm really disappointed with the quality of the camera as well, though it doesn't matter so much since it isn't why I bought the phone (I was more keen on GPRS and bluetooth, plus design).
However - my moms Voda-branded T610 takes much better pictures than mine (both when I had R1A and R3C). Could there be different hardwares? Or is it just different camera software?

@701, i know. what i meant was that being the worst in a very small field isn't as bad as being the worst in a very large one. since the t610 came out, virtually every new phone has had a cam and technology has also improved with demand.
