There are only so many designs one can use for a mobile phone and still have the product look like a 'phone'. I'm not a great fan of phones with buttons on their backside, etc or of phones that are designed to look great at the cost of functionality.
What's beneath the bonnet is definitely the most important aspect for me, but the phone should also look good. Nokia seem to have gone completely insane with their designs, everyone of their phones is either a carbon copy of the previous model, in terms of looks, or has some whacky feature, semeingly intended to appeal to children or those with poor eyesight.
Personally I think its a mark of quality and sensibility that SE don't alter their designs too much. The basic design of the watch hasn't change dmuch over the past century, or the camera for that matter, or the television, or the motorcar, or any one of numerous other machines. The reason for this continuity of design is quite simple, it works, it practical and it looks good.
Drastically changing the way a mobile phone looks is pointless without drastically changing the role of a mobile phone; as mobiles take on more roles (cameras, video recorders, game consoles, music players, PDAs, remote controls, etc) their design is bound to change.

If I may put in my two cents’ worth, I don’t think making the weird keypad designs make the phone special. It just makes the phone look weird and decreases its overall usability (case in point: Nokia 3650 & Siemens SX1). What in the world were they thinking?!

I agree. Let SE do their biz. I don't care about breathtakin' design changes, insanities. I want real style. Just like clothes I wear, music I listen to, car I drive. Anytime I change it. It's still me. This message was posted from a Z600

Wise words ;-) to find ourself in a fone or in sg else u mentioned can sound weird at the first time, but its the best way to keep to a brand or ourself. This message was posted from a R520
