I guess post count should be scrapped-off permanently, and instead just post the date of the member's registration at esato! In any work place, seniority is given high-respect and value . . . by any standard! Also, if the idea will not be taken into consideration by @laffen, @energetic's suggestion of increasing the 500 post mark profile display to say, 2 or 3K ! If that will happen, garbage and all 'made' posts should be 'accounted' as well !

I just found this thread, and got bored by the second page as I want to make a point, I cannot be bothered to read all of it so if this has already been said then sorry.
I agree that the counter in most part is silly, and I think the whole point is to encourage people to post more as most people deep down do feal better if they have lots of posts, any honest moderator will tell you that.
In the counters defence and it has proved useful many times--
when I see someone selling 10 p900's for a low, low price and they have only one post. I know not to trust them too much.
