The shutter noice is supposed to be loud so you don't take pictures on ppl without them knowing it like in dressing rooms etc.
I think someone said that the phone won't sound if you put the phone in silent mode and use the middle button (joystick) instead of the camera button.

Where in India are you getting a T-610 for Rs.2500, I like to order one..lol...
See a 610 is practically like an Amby compared with a K 500i.
Feature wise also they have lots of differences, One of the most noticeable are an MP3 Player/Voice Tones/640X480 Camera Reso as compared with 288x352 in T-610/Z600 Series,
Lighter and def more value for Rs. 12900 in Delhi....
