Nah, i'm not sure....

This GPRS, Is it really free, or is there a 5p charge to connect? I get that there is no data cost... But what about the 5p???

mine is totally free no connection charges or anything.try double checking the settings.also i dunno but i think o2 is a bit messed up cos some people get totally free(like me ),some people get charged 5p per connection and sum people 1p per connection and some people get charged normal rates so dunno.

Alright, thanks for the info though.... I'm not sure, But I think I've got it working. Also, on O2, when I press *10#SEND (supposedly checks credit) It just gives me an error.... Do you get this? And how do you fix it? Just a querie.

When you post on Esato from your mobile, does it automatically write "Posted from a p800" down the bottom???

in reply to the first question,i can usually check my balance while using gprs no problems but when i disconnect n try to check it straight away I get an error sometimes.but if you wait a bit after disconnecting like 20-30 seconds then should be ok.do you get the error while on GPRS cos i hardly get an error checkin my credit while connected.

in reply to the second question I have no idea.sorry m8

i think you get an error becuase your supposed to dial *#10# SEND and not *10# SEND as you posted. (sorry if that was a typo on your post but jus checking cos i tried *10#SEND and I get an error straight away because thats probably an invalid command)

Thanks!!! It works now. It must be a misprint in the O2 sim "handbook".. They also forgot to include the # after the *

Thanks very much,

I happen to stumble into this forum cause next week i am getting a p900. I found this topic interesting but of no use since I use an old Genie monthly tariff and they never did activate GPRS and when i asked them they refused, cause they wanted me off Genie and onto a more expensive O2 tarrif. I think not.

I then realised in my drawer I had a O2 Online P&G sim. so i put it into my K700i and entered the 8080 code, which funnily enough is what i use with my Genie unlimited wap (915000 number).

This sim card is not meant to work until you have put credit on, but upon putting it into the phone it got a network signal. My balance is £0.00. I tried to connect to GPRS (little globe appears) and up pops a little message box "you do not have enough credit, please top up and try again". So I click ok but then it loads the O2 active screen anyway, excellant!!

Checking my POP3 o2 email address works on the genie 915000 number but wont work on this free GPRS, just says "finding server" constantly, anyway to stop this?

Also, is there anyway to stop it telling me I have no credit? Its not big deal, i click ok and carry on browsing but its annoying!!!

Apart from that, quite cool. Never used GPRS before, still a hardcore dial-up guy (well it is free!), not as fast as i imagined, but seems alot faster when your used to GSm/dial-up connection!

Is free GPRS only works for O2? What about Vodafone contract?
