just a couple of things...

Take up of 3G on voda UK is going superb... loads of new customers and loads of upgrades to 3G handsets being made...

As it was when the 2G networks started up the new 3G networks will have bugs and problems... there are as many 3G technicians within vodafone as there are 2G ones... Dont forget the old days of analogue... it didnt die and neither will 3G (in the UK at least). 4G, if developed and launched, will take a while to appear in the UK. Dont forget its the government who release the licenses and i doubt they will release them as soon as they are developed...

I dont know about the other networks but vodafone WILL NOT be switching its 2G/2.5G network off. We believe that people who want to will move onto 3G handsets... My partner (who also works in vodafone but in a store) has sold quite a few nokia 6630's and motorola v980's (both fones generally free on upgrades) to people who before seeing 3G working werent interested in anything like that.

Its the future of phones... 4G will be for businesses and the early adopters... it aint gonna be a commercialised product...

@voda_jon

3G looks to have a very bright in the UK once handset problems have been solved, namely the size of the handsets and the battery life. Both, of which are improving and it shouldn't be too long before they are comparable with 2.5G handsets.
