A joint venture is more like a marriage than a fling!

Actually joint ventures are highly unstable, especially international ones. It is a well known fact.

ScotsboyUK, I agree that profit is the number one objective and it might override the other goals, this may be the case with SE, but it isnt always the case. But you might be right in regards to SEs primary objective since Ericsson was struggling in the past.

I hate generalisation, and that is pretty general statement.

Whilst i fully agree with you, Sony Ericsson is not an unstable company so the evidence points to no split in the near future.

And they are slowly profiting more, which as scots rightly says indicates they want to stay with each other.

Very true, however most companies stay stable for a certain amount of time, however they are usually unstable as the interests of both companies must be met. They currently are, but any changes in the international markets may swing it either way, so its currenly a marriage but u never know when a better looking woman will come along.

However I guess since we already established that the primary interest is profit, and they meet it and will probably continue to meet it, I dont see why they should split up.

Im just pointing out that it isnt a permanant thing.

I doubt that would happen. It would be a big faff having to split. Divorces always are

How ironic considering that Ericsson's design efforts wouldn't have looked out of place in a nurserey.

@ ThreeX > Yummy ! Well count on me too for this new t39 !

I'd probably go Ericsson if SE separated, but I don't like very much this type of close relation to brands, let's not forget that althought some style or engeneering differences can exist, they just want to earn money.

@scotty /// design and techn was way ahead its time, not every of us understood and respected it ;-) The standard example is: almost same date of launch of r520 and j6. Just compare those models with each other! This message was posted from a Z1010

@Boba

Ericsson were far too basic and boring in terms of design for my liking. I can appreciate simplicity, but dullness doesn't cut it.

Sony's designs impressed me greatly; sleek and Japanese in a sea of boring European squaredom.

Sorry but I don't understand your point. What has one thing to do with another ? Dullness in a nursery ?

Anyway design is not the only reason to choose a phone...
