Well, yes, you can create custom playlists on the phone. You can also use SensMe.

sandy4464, where did you hear the information regarding the LED on the side?
I rang Sony Ericsson UK today and the guy said the LED should definately be lit when a call or message is received. Mine doesn't light up at all. This is rather annoying as you can't tell if a call or message has been received!
