@prom1 am using these Wesc Maraca headphones with my iPhone 3G... amazing sound quality and in my opinion some of the best looking headphones around!
Previous to them i had some skull candy lo-riders but the Wesc's beat them hands down...

What stereo headphones/headset (with mic) combo are you guys using?
Griffin SmartTalk headphone/mic adapter with
Sony MDR-EX71SL earplugs. Superb sound quality.

I'd forgotten about the MDR's... I still have a set of MDR-71SL and -81SL somewhere, they were always a good headset.
I'm still looking for a usable bluetooth A2DP headset but nothing really satisifes me as I don't want to have anything wrapped around my head (either top or back), and I prefer in-ear anyway and so that just leaves the wired BT headset but those all seem to have too much cable which still gets caught on stuff. best I've seen so far is the dog-tag style but the ones I have tried didn't sound too good

The Griffin SmartTalk is not the best... I had mine for 3 months before it became faulty... it is known to become faulty easily...
I am also looking for something similar but don't know what to go for...
Cheers

ENJOY

I've tried SE HBH-DS200 and the sound quality is OK (not excellent) but the missing volume controls on it is a problem as the iPhone doesn't allow controlling the volume from the phone when paired with a Bluetooth headset. There the Nokia BH-500 is better equipped.

Ok, I'll see how long mine last. Had it for about a month but don't use it very often.
Most of the time I use Nokia BH-500 stereo Bluetooth with the same Sony earplugs (never the bundled Nokia plugs) but am not impressed with the sound quality when paired with the iPhone. But I play mostly audiobooks and podcasts so sound quality is not so important. The BH-500+MDR-EX71SL combo sounds excellent when paired with an E90 but iPhone+MDR-EX71SL without the Bluetooth receiver sounds even better.

I have been trying the
OtterBox Defender Case for a few days. Excellent protection but there is a tiny gap between the display and the plastic window in the case covering it so you have to press harder in the corners for the display to register. Makes it feel like an old WM touchscreen
So I went back to the iLuv silicone case and a screen protector, plus
this fake leather case which is quite good apart from the fact that it isn't real leather so I don't expect it to last very long.
The one I ordered was called PCMICROSTORE Apple iPhone Black Leather Texture Horizontal Holster Carrying Case With Belt Loop And Clip but it looks exactly like the one linked above. (Note the term 'leather texture'...)
. . .
Regarding the bugs in the new 3.1 OS; another one which doesn't occur so frequently: twice over the past couple of weeks since I upgraded the phone has lost reception showing
No Service without regaining reception again automatically:
Both times this happened when the iPhone was stationary at home
Other phones can loose the signal while passing through areas without coverage but they recover once you reach an area where there's a signal.
I'm still trying to decide which of my old backup phones to switch to (XDA EXEC, G700, P990i) while waiting for Apple to fix all the bugs in the new OS but none of are them come even close to the iPhone in usability (even with the bugs).

Definitely something weird with 3.1 - there are far too many reports of issues for there not to be - but I can't say I've experienced any of them. Reception for me is just the same as always - I'm in a rural location so there have always been places where the iPhone (and my previous phones) would drift in and out of signal even when stationary. 3.1 is just the same in that regard and manages to recapture signal again just the same as always.
