Hi all,
Well this is the 5,000th post quite an achievement really and now that it is nearly 14 days since launch date hopefully more users will be able to purchase full retail units and answer all the still unanswered questions.

Exactly and hopefully Dogmann:-) Must say that UK people are much more responsive to questions and eager to test the phone so I hardly wait X1 to appear in the UK. Than finally we would have answer on lot of questions:-)
Regarding video I know that using core player my P1 can play 700mb avi movie smoothly. Also you tube and streaming are next to perfect. So it should normally work on X1.
As someone said many of us used to have a lot of patients with P990 since it brought something new. Now I do need a killer mashine to replace my P1. The slightest slownes in X1 UI and SE will not see a cent from me. It should work perfectly.

Stop posting stuff like this as long as it's not confirmed by a trustworthy source.

How is it with X1 now in UK? I am thinking of buying XPERIA from UK, but I haven't found any dealers, who has XPERIA X1 in stock now? Can anyone recommend some good shop, which ship to the rest part of Europe than UK only? Thanks
Hmyzak
I just ordered one from ebay (UK version) from a vendor who has 900+ 100% positive feedback, he said he has a long standing relationship with someone from SE, and that I would have mine by this week before the competition. He said he already had a batch of 5 sold. I did pay a lot more though compared to expansys. Currently he is out of any extra units.

To the RAM discussion:
this is a _mobile_ device, with a _mobile_ OS. It doesn't need to have gigabytes of RAM or gigahertz processors, high-end video cards, etc. It is _mobile_. If you need the power of a desktop computer, buy a laptop. Think again your needs.
I want my laptop on my shirt pocket, A lot others too. Ask Astral1

Hi!
I replaced my P1i with X1 and I must say I'm very pleased. The interface is really fast, no bugs (yet). Been up and running since last tuesday. The only thing I miss so far, as I use the device as a mp3 player as well, is the Megabass function.

As long as it faster than my p990, I'll be happy (i know, doesn't take much).
@koto
Which version of coreplayer plays xvid smoothly on uiq3. I have only tried the v1.1.2 and it was awful. I am still using M3 to convert my movies.

To address both points, if the X1 does indeed come with 384MB which I'm pretty sure it does not now. It would not have been done so with a view to upgrading to WM7 as if it was then an accelerometer would have been included too as WM7 will support hand based gestures. It would have been upped for x-panels but it is beyond me why it would need that much if there is 150MB odd RAM free after boot. Having more ram would not make it run any quicker. A faster cpu clock or better 3d chip/drivers would.
Also, yes SE will more than likely not be providing WM7 upgrades but most people comfortable with flashing devices won't be waiting for SE to release an upgrade they will simply do it themselves. At present early builds of WM7 are running on 256MB RAM, so I'm pretty sure 512MB wont; be needed though I will agree it is more than likely that devices around that time will be shipping with 512MB RAM. 384MB ram for WM7 could well be the sweet spot (enough to run OS and sufficient amount of apps).
Moving on to memory addressing in WM6.1. Using the map example, this is wrong. At present gps software will not move as much as it can into ram for faster operation. WM6.1 is not Vista. Authors know they have a finite amount of ram available so only move a certain amount of whatever is required to run the app into ram. Thus having 256mb or 384mb ram is NOT going to make gps soft run any faster. If the footprint is designed to use 30MB then it is not going to use anymore if it sees more. Maybe in some years when amount of RAM heavily outstrips software execution or memory addressing are not built on ce foundations but currently no.
The way I see it is this, if you are someone that is very much into tweaking and fixing things then 384Mb would indeed come in very handy and would be very beneficial. On the other hand, if you don;t really like messing around with things too much or are constantly upgrading phones then I wouldn't be too bothered about the X1 not having 384mb ram. There will be something much better come WM7 release time!
Hi Tregba, good points well taken. But I want to make an exception.
Programs don't just take certain amount of memory and done. Good coded Apps first get the system parameters like Ram available, screen size and resolution active devicesdevices etc. then accordingly and
dynamicaly reserves the necessary space to run. Complex Apps release and reserve resources as needed.
The gap between mobiles and laptos is closing. If you add multitasking with complex programs (desktop quality) into the equation is easy to understand why More Memory will help to improve performance.
The problem with apps that can not run on other devices is bad hardwired code. Those are the ones causing hangs and lockups. Good programs make adjustments acording to the RAM and other resources available. So programs can run the optimum best for example with 384MB and still run but constrained with let's say 64MB
By the way 512MB and 1GB are already on the drawing board or already alpha testing. Just to mention one component: Take a look at Tegra 650 Computer in a chip smaller than a dime. Low power enough for a week.
We haven't seen anything yet and they are comming tomorrow monrning.
