I wonder if it's possible to make the part of memory stick as a virtual ram or the like to address the shortage of ram?

No, the memory of the MS is too slow and couldn't survive all the read/writes. Exaplained by Michal Jerz at My Symbian here:

I've got two questions about the phone:
2. How can you watch a streaming video in the web browser? Most sites that have streaming media require WMP or RealPlayer; so is there any sort of way to get it to play?
I have only got the streaming to work via 3G/GPRS. When I run via WiFi it says "buffering" and then just nothing happens.
Irritating!!!
The phone can handle real-media... but not windows-media. And seem like it can't handle any streaming while on WiFi!! GAH!

how many video formats does the p990 support besides the usual mp4,3gp and is there any third party program that is available to increase the range?

on the ram issue it seems that the browser opera is the only app that hogs the memory as it say here
http://my-symbian.com/forum/v[....]tdays=0&postorder=asc&start=60 by michal. You can run up to maybe 15 applications simultaneously. The major reason for ram shortage is that some apps aren't optimize for symbian os.
