@AYA: Knoppix appeared to be a bootable live CD

But its installable too, and will run smoother on your hard drive than from CD. Let's know how Ubuntu fares though. I haven't tried it at all.

I couldn't figure out the wi-fi thing at my school, so I decided to get a USB bluetooth for my laptop. Setup was as fast and easy as ABC and I was browsing in seconds...

Can someone tell me which is the best antivirus software out there? I reall need some feedback.

Avast Anti-virus is top of the pack. The Home Edition is free.

@coola: I am not sure I can produce the WiFi ebook now. The 9500 sort of does the connection sort of stresslessly. I dont have too many details worth putting into a book.

Now why didn't I see that coming....

Early last year... the "in-thing" among the Naija GSM networks was the Commercial Phone Operator product. All of them were scrambling to offer the lowest prices so that the Operators will use their products.

MTN BoosterCard... then Vmobile Bumpa... then Glo's Profit Max... then M-Tel Power Talk... with prices as slow as 10 bucks /min. The marketing people went haywire.

Cut to... end of the year 2005... and the Reconciliation is done:

All those N20 calls brought in only N2 after the interconnection fees (of N18) were removed. Vmobile and Glo found out that thay have all been making money for MTN! As long as those calls went to MTN (as most did) MTN collected 18 bucks! And vice versa.

Right now.... the "in-thing" is not to be caught with the lowest product! In fact I have it on good authority that they want to kill the products all together! Prices are now N30 /min and N35 /min depending on whether it is on-net of "other" net.

(Which increases the profit margin nicely.... after the 18 buck goes.)

Now why didn't I see it coming? I could have been having a great time telling everyone "I told you so!"

High Interconnection rates have killed another industry....

Does the interconnection rate also apply to CDMA netwworks too? The reason I'm asking is cos I'm able to make calls from my Multilinks to GSM at the rate of 20naira/min without anything like booster or superbooster cards.

I think it's high time people start thinking about switching to CDMA and ditching the GSM boys; it's more stable, reliable, clearer calls, advanced data capabilities, cheaper and better overall..

The interconnect rate for PTO's is 12naira.
for some reason I've been very sceptical about getting another pto line after my bad experience with GTE and Intercellular. I'd like to wait till the universal licencig or whatever it is called.
