I agree with storm that the ram question will still be a big issue with the phone. Even with better memory management it's still a point of contention.
We'll all stamp our feet and clench our fists when the next generation is released (I wouldn't be suprised if it was as soon as 9-12 months from now).
But you know what? we'll all prolly go out and get one.
I think SE have proper pegged onto this so we can expect to be wearing our trousers around our ankles untill an alternative is released.

I found out the side slidey phone i was shown is referred to as the tyntyn.
I don't like the styling of it, though the stylus is kinda funny and cool.
But I'm after a phone-pda which I'm pretty sure most ppl tend to skew towards but I make no basis for that assumption.

So i went to t-mobile store and talked to their customer services. And they say that they have no idea about the p990. So I'm feeling quite glum and call up vodafone to pay my current bill and I'm told that in a couple weeks time they're gonna have tarrifs that are very comparable to the web and walk from t-mobile. Still glum because nothing is sure, but I got to have a nice play on my cousins p990 which he bought for crazy money (i'm guessing less than £700 because that's how much he's trying to sell it to me for). SE do have a way with styling and it does seem a very solidly built phone.

Highly unlikely the ram issue will be fixed, well not hardware wise as that would be a very stupid thing SE could do. Bring out a p990i with more ram, leaves the rest of us sort of in limbo.
be unlike them to do that, wouldnt it.. like a couple of weeks after i finally downed my p800 for a p900.. they released the p910.

im starting to wonder about sticking with my 910i for a while as i still think it looks better than the 990, flip off..

i bet it's quicker than 9-12months tho

I've read somewhere that the current batches of P990's come with the BST-33 battery, while newer batches will come with the BST-34 (higher amperage). Can anyone comfirm this?

we've had endless discussion about this in this thread and others

the summary is that SE announced the P990 to have the BST-34 but almost everyone has received a BST-33 except a couple of members who claim to have received a BST-34. Also a couple of members have said that BST-34 is becoming available as an accessory in Sweden so perhaps SE will live up to their original claim that P990 will come with the larger capacity battery

time will tell...

Bit of a stupid question but the WiFi on the P990i does that mean i can go into a pub/bar which offers free WiFi and connect to the internet for free?

Also connect to my wireless internet connection at home for free and use MSN (if there is one for P990)

Thanks

you can certainly connect at home for "free" (although you are already paying for your connection by some other means other than to your mobile phone company) but whether its free in a pub or bar depends on the wifi service provider at that location and in most cases you have to pay for it by entering your credit card details or signing up for some annual services but its still cheaper than GPRS/3g charges though!

Cool thanks, I have noticed there are quite a few pubs/bars in my town which offer a free WiFi connection, quite a student town so offers connections for laptops etc i should imagine but would be cool to connect and browse the net via my mobile.

Yea.. this is cool! I sat at a café in Stockholm the other day and surfed at their free internetconnection. Using ICQ and downloading stuff. (You can even connect to ftp's via the browser in p990. But you can't upload stuff.. yet... Maby there will be a "real" ftp-client for p990 some day.

Anyone want's to make one? Hehe..

@SEP990i, yes that is correct I don't think there is many free 'open' hotspots in the UK though. Wish I lived in New York hehe
