What spektykles said makes sense, it is genuinely a problem to make that perfect device to please everyone because there will always be a compromise somewhere. A fat device for a fat camera sensor is alright and bezels for the excellent selfie camera is understandable. The XA2 Plus looks amazing because it uses the older sensor so they can make the bezels slim etc.

The problem I have is that these fat sensors are not justifying their presence, unless you get that wow factor like when the Nokia Pureview came out then maybe its best to go for 2 or 3 thin sensors if it means they can reduce bezels, thickness and size etc. There has to be something really great about the XZ2P for someone to get one over all the prettier and thinner flagships, to actually justify its shortcomings to the average Joe and not only Esato peeps.

Personally, the XZ2 camera is good enough for it to be considered to be flagship standard so rather than using a huge second sensor they should add a small one to tick the dual camera box and focus on making the thing slim, small and pretty. That will help sales way more than putting the XZ2P camera into the XZ3. Look at Huawei sales since MWC, yes there is a lot lacking in their phones but they are killing it because they make good looking devices that perform well in every aspect without excelling in anything in particular apart from the low light imaging. I'll say it again, the XZ2 Compact on paper is one of the best phones out there and should be so appealing to many people but its 'one ugly mother****er'.

Regular chinese costumers will buy whatever Huawei, Oppo, Vivo , OnePlus and Xiaomi decide to push.
The Vivo X20 Plus UD , the first with screen FPS, does not even have usb C. Actually many from Vivo and Oppo don't..
One Plus charges $500 only because phone lacks stuff other flagships have.
Xiaomi still uses often SD625, no NFC nor usb C for Redmi devices.

Look at P20/P20 Pro.

CPU that is weaker than SD835, the GPU is centuries behind Adreno. It does not have the jack too.
Bluetooth is still 4.2, while SD630 that came few months before kirin 970 has BT5.0.
Camera takes great photos, but is ridiculous for videos. There is no EIS for 4K, the 4K@30 has 24Mbps bitrate while XZ2 has 54.
Front cam is lame. Worse among all flagships.

Honor 10 has kirin 970, cheaper screen than p20, cheaper camera etc... Price is close to $500.
The device is not better than OP5t or Mi6.
Even worse compared to S8+, XZP, V30, U11 and Pixel 2.

Probably H10, P20 and P20 together will probably pass 40 million units.

I still believe it is less than 11-12mm. Maybe Sony utilize thickness for heat issues as well.

On another matter, Gorilla 6 glass was just announced and it's supposed to be be twice as hard as 5 is. Any chance we'll see gorilla 6 on XZ3?

I hope it has gg6.
Note7 had gg5 and it was the first.
It was before IFA I guess.

Tbh a small camera bump, while not ideal - is acceptable. Better a small hump and good image quality than flat with mediocre or poor images.

P20 Pro's bump does look a bit excessive. But I don't understand the arguments of we can't put more lenses or dual cameras, or bigger sensor because of space. Every other manufacturer can put dual cameras in a much thinner body with smaller bezels. Maybe their camera hardware is not as good and so does not take up so much space... but that is irrelevant. All consumers care about is the result - i.e. the picture quality and (to a lesser extent) video quality. They don't care how big a sensor is or how many lenses it has.

That said I don't think XZ2 design is that bad... sure it looks super fat when you look at thickness measurement and compare to other phones, but in person it looks fine. If anything it is better because it is genuinely more comfortable to hold than some super thing phones. The only issue IMO is the bad finger print sensor placement. I just wish they could get fit a dual camera like everyone else...

In my opinion the shape is not a problem. It reminds me of U11, which I like.
If the speakers had same design ( I prefer Z5 style) and managed to move camera, sensors and FPS then XZ3 would be stunning.
Camera where sensors are, sensors beside cam and FPS where cam is now, screen FPS would be even better.
Premium looks nicer to me because of dual cam and 16:9. I also like its color, the silver.
Here Sony brought all colors except silver for both.

A post on weibo says Premium is heading to UK. Maybe late september.

BTW what should we expect about next flagship sensor. I wonder will it be a big sensor like the custom one on P20 Pro.
