Acc to phonearena, theC905 actually sounds better than the Renoir and pixon. While the innov8 tops. Now how true is the statement??
Sound quality through the headphones:
So, we got to the most important criterion as far as listening to music on the phone is concerned. We have to underline that, in order to assess the sound quality we used the same headphones (sometimes with an adapter), and not the ones included in the sets. The test headphones are midmarket class - Alessandro MS1. On the whole, we are pleased with the performance of all four models and we can say they answer the needs of the mainstream user. There is, however, a small difference in the sound volume they provide.
INNOV8 and C905 are the loudest and the Sony Ericsson model offers a sound that is slightly clearer. The Pixon can achieve the same volume, but the sound is a little sharper, so you’ll have to turn it down a little. Renoir is a bit quieter compared to the competition. On the whole, none of the models offers a volume, comparable with that of the music champion from our comparative evaluation of the GSM touch-screen phones, iPhone. Furthermore, only INNOV8 has an in-built 3.5 mm jack, while Renoir and Pixon come with adapters. C905 does not provide a possibility for plugging in headphones of your choice (unless you buy an adapter). All these facts have been taken into account for the final evaluation, which is...

in some ways the comparo is flawed - they are using the come-with headphones for the C905, which are inferior by far to the HPM-70 that normally comes with SE walkman phones - which would also allow the test to have been conducted with the C905 having the same headphones as the others.
I know the C905 doesn't come with a hpm-70, but anyone buying it interested in music is gonna buy a hpm-70 for certain.
As far as "out of the box" comparisons go it's valid, but as a raw judge of audio ability the comparison is flawed.

I find that my C905 sounds excellent, almost on par with my iPhone.
I've been using the jack that came with my W880 and my Skullcandy Earphones it sounds excellent, would be tempted to use it over my iPhone if the battery didnt drain so quickly.

I called sony ericsson technical support yesterday about my C905 not being able to play videos through youtube. The lady i spoke to tried one of the C905's they had and were able to play videos through youtube on 02 fine. So is it just 02 customers that are lucky enough to access youtube?
Nope, I'm an o2 customer. Was going to leave them for Orange, but they convinced me to renew with them. Paid a bit extra for my C905. Youtube doesn't work with 3G or Wifi on my model. The camera lens slider also kept activating the camera when it was closed over, due to it being so loose. So its going back.

I find the music player is the biggest let down. To use my favoured noise cancelling senhessiers I have to have a ridiculous chunky adaptor.
The sound quality is great but simply too quiet. When sitting on the London Underground I can hear the sound of the train even with the noise cancelling earphones. With the supplied earphones I could not hear music above the train even at full volume.
I do not want to apply gain to my mp3's and I am used to having non restrictive volume levels and using itunes so I am sticking with my ipod.
Unless Sony step up and put 3.5mm jacks on their phones Apple is going to wipe the floor with them.
