imho, i don't think it's a good move. i thought they were focusing on premium tech and devices from now on? the "flooding the market" strategy should be put aside in favor of getting the best device or two at the top. the one that everyone wants. that's what will bring profits, and profits matter more than market share, I think.

i'd rather have 2% marketshare and make huge profits than 90% marketshare and barely make it into the black.

hope the galaxy s4 doesn't overshadow the Z/ZL.. especially here in the states, where samsung markets a LOT.

For Sony I think the best event right now to announce the 2H flagship is at E3. Considering the PS4's reveal and the interaction it will have with smartphones it would create a big splash, especially if it has killer specs etc...

I think they will release C670X at E3

and C680X & Phablet at IFA in september ..

E3 = PS4 + Exclusive Ps4 games + Vita games + Ps3 games + Gaikai + [Vita+PS4 marriage] - no phone launch.

PS4 >>>>>>>> Any Xperia phone.
E3 flagship expo exclusively for video game industry.
No gamer will give a damn about xperia phone over there don't forget this year at E3 it will be the best to come in year all about PS4 and Xbox 720.
They will surely have a separate event for new range and also in past there was online launch too.

They will be showing off the connectivity of smartphones with the PS4. Showing of a new powerful device doing that would be great marketing for Sony.

Yes, but they will probably be showing that in action on a real device though, not just on some slides. Smartphones are becoming an important gaming platform...

That image was a teaser from Sony.
Obviously they will show off this app in Xperia Z/ZL and also Xperia tablet Z + maybe ipad or iphone.

VIDEO:-The Engadget Interview: Sony product marketing manager Stephen Sneeden at MWC 2013

After wowing us at CES with the Xperia Z, Sony enticed us at Mobile World Congress with the Xperia Tablet Z. Both devices combine top-notch specs with beautiful industrial design -- pure rectangular forms with a mirror-like finish packaged in thin, light and water-resistant shells. We sat down with product marketing manager Stephen Sneeden in Barcelona to talk about these iconic products.

when Kuni Suzuki became Sony Mobile's president and CEO. He explained that some of these design elements will likely be incorporated into future (non-mobile) products and that the both the Xperia Z and Tablet Z are premium, aspirational devices which will become reference points for more affordable models.

Mr. Sneeden mentioned the TV SideView app, an electronic programming guide with voice activation that's available from the Play Store and takes advantage of the Tablet Z's built-in IR blaster.

Mr. Sneeden also pointed out that Sony's Music Unlimited and Walkman Player apps will be fully integrated by summer.
