i have a PC with no brand name at 1700+ also... did not take me 60 minutes as you said. it was closer to 10 mins. maybe your situation is unique.

I tend to agree with that, port settings-computer configuration might have something to do with flashing issues. When I tried flashing using an AMD 1700+ pc(no brand name), flashing was incredibly slow (over 60 minutes). When using P4 1.7ghz Compaq pc, it took about 10 minutes. (same cable, same client, same server).

Hey guys...food for thought:
1) Not a server problem with dumping firmware
2) Maybe a problem with client software-however, when the thing hangs there for hours, windowsxp is not reporting the software as "hung" or stuck in anyway...the fact that you can click stop and start over clearly proves this.
3) A BIG maybe goes with the problem with the serial port settings and connection to phone (not actually the cable now). Here's my thought: Everybody who has "successfully" downloaded a fw from their phones, PLEASE, look at your serial port settings and report it here. Example: baud rate (9600, 14,400, etc.). And everyone who has been unsuccessful, please adjust your settings to the successful one and give that a shot.
As for me, I'm going to walk even further out on the limb and try a serial to usb adapter and give that a wack. Hopefully windowsxp will detect the connection and automatically set baud rates and such.
So it's off to Fry's electronics tomorrow to find the adapter cable. Wish me luck....and remember, I'm doing this for all of you guys...so please, if there is anything that you may see someone around you suffering with, give them a hand..without thinking what's in it for you, just this once. That is if you ever want to thank me, just thank me that way: just pass it on!!

I don't think it has to do with serial port settings... I have a T68 and a T68i.. I flashed both, one right after the other with the same files.. my T68 works but the T68i has the BT failure. So.. the settings were the same. I have a bad feeling that the Ericsson Client Program is messing up certain phones, and once its messed up it can't be fixed... this sux!

t00h0t...just to clarify, what you are experiencing is not what I'm referring to...firstly, what I was referring to is the comm b/n the fone and the pc in the download (dump) process, nothing to do with what happens to your phone if you flash it with incompatible fw...funks has compiled a list of fone hardware and fw (orig) and successful/unsuccessful flashes...you may want to take a look at that. The bluetooth sys on the phone is embedded in the bluetooth chipset...once you dump some incompatible fw onto that chipset, I believe only emma2 or some real low level buzz on that chipset can reset it back to original status....where are you located? You can probably contact Adam at gsmphonesource.com and he can maybe help get your phone back in order with emma2...maybe.
Let me just remind everyone that we are treading on dangerous territory flashing our own phones...now warranties for sure.
I believe this thread has gotten way toooooo long and users are not tempted to read every single post to get to some proper conclusion...maybe time to start a new one?
Just a suggestion.

Be careful on this, I noticed that EC only support Serial Port instead of USB or USB>Serial.

Hey guys. Thanks for a very informative thread! So I'm trying to update my T68 (using cingular in US) to T68i. Seems I have a R1B, 01 W46 (making it the oldest in this thread!). I bought a flash cable from gsmsquare.com and a logger from unlocking. Now when I try to use the EricsClient that unlockng sent me (it says Thailand at the top), I get either a "Server closed connection" or a "No Response from Server". Then I tried downloading the one on their Website and it gets stuck at "Connecting to Server..." Anyone know what is going on? I'm not sure if I am doing this right, but I connect my phone while it is off, and then click "Flash SW" and the when it says to "Power On Phone..." I push the "No" button for awhile, and then I get those above messages from EricsClient. Hopefully this is something simple and not another disaster for unlocking. Thanks in advance! And great work on this thread! =)
