Xperia is barely hanging alive
Sony threw entire Xperia budget (and some other departments) into DEI bull excrement stuff (Sony Global Justice Fund) because they feels that DEI is more important to them than some phone market. That is it

Sad but I guess it has to happen. I tried a Samsung with One UI 7 and it felt 100 years ahead of Xperia android 14. Sony's lazy approach has cost them.

Xperia still exists but pray that their entire software team of 5 swedish guys in a basement can carry whole Xperia lineups on their shoulders

Hardware is good everywhere and cheap enough that you don't need to pay over £1000 for a solid all rounder. As such, paying over £1000 should give you an amazing phone in every aspect. The Xperia 1vi is worth £800 maximum so it's no surprise Sony are going to end by next year.

It makes no sense to get an expensive phone with only 2 years of updates for a barebones version. The lack of basic customisation of the lock and always on display tells me that there is no love or budget for Xperia users.

I've had consecutive Sony phones for 20 years now, but this is the last one. It's sad, they were wonderful for so long but the game has moved so far forward that midrange phones will make Xperia look prehistoric.

Fully agree with u badassmam! Esp that last sentence, that is me exactly.... I had SE phones since the T230 thru A2 walkmans now android.
Since I got this green lines issue with my 5iii some weeks ago, I am sour towards Sony esp because this issue carried fwd from previous 5 models. My friends still say that my Sonys always have better camera quality than their Samsungs/Pixels, but I think I am ready to switch for my next phone...something I never dreamed about before. Oh well.... Hello moto 🥺

I have already moved on after XZ2 Premium and has always looked for a reason to go back. I am using an iPhone ever since.

Sadly, 1vi is not that one yet.

I kinda wished they continued but I guess the japanese's stubbornness hit really hard.

I used a Nothing Phone 2 the other day and it came across that the company is very focused on user experience. They put a lot of care into the phone and it felt great despite the hardware being older. I tried Samsung One UI 7 and it's so customisable, it felt so fresh and exciting on top of the quite stale Pixel UI. OnePlus 12 was also really impressive. The choice is endless and everything is better value for money than any Xperia. I'm gutted but, my rational mind gives me no reason to get another Xperia.

I refuse to get a phone with a camera cutout in the display. So my choices are limited to Sony or Nubia. Or maybe the Xiaomi Mix line (non foldables) if that returns. Unfortunately the Nubia line didn't use an LTPO display which is what I'd prefer.

I hope Sony don't close up shop or follow the trend and go with a camera cutout.
