I found that if you apply a thin layer of cycle oil, or any other pure type, around the battery cover, you can remove any squirky noises caused by friction between the cover and the body. It also makes the removal of the cover smoother and easier.

About sound recording, when recording time lasts over one hour, it seems the recorded portion for the first hour is lost and the counter restarts from 0 second thereafter. Also, it gives an error msg when I try to save recording past one hour. Is there a setting to limit the max record time somewhere in the menu? I counldn't find one. Did previous P-series have this recording time limitation? Thanx.

@ivc
The oil trick worked wonders on my creaky battery cover. Thanks!

The only limitation from the previous p series is the memory... There are no settings for the sound recorder.

I called O2 on August 14th (their previously qouted release date) and was told it is now September 11th. If others are hearing Sept 8th then I guess there'll be no harm enquiring then.
On a seperate matter, I've been qouted £150 to upgrade to the P990 on O2 - I spend just less than £30 a month with them. I have been due an upgrade for 2 years now since nothing has come close to superseding my P900 (I could not justify upgrading to the P910), but is this a fair price?

I went into o2 store today and after the bloke there finally worked out that the p990 was a phone (I have no idea what else he could've thought it'd be) he told me their release date is indeed 11th september but they will be taking delivery on the friday so they may break release.
So far as your upgrade quote, the operators now work out your price by averaging your previous 3 months of bills. I'm 100% sure it's how vodafone do it, and have it on good authority that it's the same case for the other networks. If indeed your bills (not including bolt ons, but including out of plan usage and line rental) average at less than £30 each for the past three months then £150 isn't soo bad. But it's far from decent mate, considering that stores have said they may retail the phone for £400. Alot of people (including myself) have been given in principal quotes of nill payment for p990. Though for my part please bear in mind my usage is quite high.

As the new Symbian OS uses DRM and so you can't install any freeware or shareware software, do you think it will be an issue for you users?

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, the o2 p990
retail release date is set at the 11th Septmeber. If you phone o2 customer services direct, they already have the p990 and it is available to new and upgrading customers!
