Ive done the. 136 firmware update 2 days ago and ever since it is taking longer for the screen to come back on after a call so I can hang up it is only by an extra few seconds but it is annoying has anyone else noticed this.

I have already posted about this earlier,

thats is because Z1 actually has the same touch screen tech as Z ultra. Unfortunately it require root to unlock this.

well guys as you know I've been doing some work on my original Z1 after I cracked the screen with my finger nail going too deep into the led slot trying to remove a Nilkin Glass screen protector - totally my fault and stupidity

Anyway I ordered a new screen and all the seals etc and the screen arrived first so I decided to fit it and run the phone for a few days just to make sure all was well before finally sealing it up, everything was good and the phone worked perfectly.

The seals arrived and I decided to finish the job, so took it apart again and finalised the build turning on before sealing up the back cover, all was good but after a few days of operation the touchscreen became unresponsive, returned the screen assembly to the supplier and they replaced it, in the mean time I bought a second Z1 while waiting for the parts
...

anyway long story I know but sometimes shit happens - keeps me busy though lol

@Geoffxx : how much did the screen cost and where did you order it from?

I droppped a big jar of peanut butter on my phone, when i opened a cabinet. I hear email coming in but the screen is complete busted. I just checked and repairing it at a local shop(The Netherlands) will cost me around 225 euro.

So have several options:
- repairing it for 225 euro and hoping it solves it and nothing else is broken.
- buying a new one (465 euro)
- Waiting for Z2, Z1s not a option, want bigger screen size.
- other brand

So what does everyone think of the Z2?
Will you be selling your Z1 to get the Z2?
Are you happy to stay with the Z1?
And is this thread now going to go the way of the dodo?

As I still have 14 months on my current contract to run I don't think I will be getting the Z2 but more likely the Z4 or Z5.

^ To be honest I dont see the Z2 as a new flagship more as a Z1 refresh with a slight bump in spec and I would expect the Z1 to recieve all the features of the Z2 with the 4.4.2 update due shortly. Overall every day performance between the two will be marginal at best. I will wait to see what the bring at IFA in August as the true replacement for the Z1 as it will probably use Qualcomm's new 64 bit CPU and a 2K screen (which personally is overkill) but that is the nature of the development of the smartphone.

I don't think anyone who owns a Z1 will upgrade to the Z2 unless they have money to burn. I see this as a phone for people who have an Xperia Arc S, Xperia S or T or even a Z and are at the end of their contract and just want the latest Xperia to show off to their friends.

New firmware just certified for the Z1 the C6903 variant with firmware version 14.2.A.1.144 most likley to be bug fixes again rather than KitKit 4.4.2.

Good news that there's a new firmware certified, let's hope it makes it's way to my UK sim free model that's still on .290 mind you my phone's running great so I can't complain

And for me I'll be keeping my Z1 for quite a while yet so no Z2 for me. For me I don't feel it's that much of a step up from the Z1 so I'm just going to sit back and chill for a bit with my Z1

Finally, he confirmed that the 4.4 updates for the Z-series are progressing well, initial beta testing is set to commence soon. The SP, T, TX, V and TL will get 4.4 about 4-6 weeks later on the current timetable, then after that it will be the L, M/Dual, T2 Ultra, M2, E1/Dual, but there is no timeframe for these devices yet.
