Plot Outline...

"Unjustly expelled from Harvard when a stash of cocaine is found in his possession, Matt (Elijah Wood) moves to London to live with his sister and her husband Steve (Marc Warren.) He is quickly introduced to Steve's chirpy, cock-sure younger brother Pete (Charlie Hunnam.) Initially, Pete is reluctant to get acquainted with Matt and allow him to tread around the capital city with him because he may be seen by others as an 'outsider', but after a heavy drinking session with him and his mates he quickly changes his opinion of him. On the way back from a football match, Matt is viciously accosted by a gang of Birmingham City thugs, until Pete and his friends step in and save him. It is from here that Matt learns the truth about Pete and his friends- they are football hooligans, operating the GSE (Green Street Elite) 'firm.' Initially afraid of the violence, Matt soon ends up becoming as desensitized to it as his new found friends- but as events roll on, suspicion, shocking revelations and unsettled scores combine to a devastating climax where London's most fierce football rivals- Millwall and West Ham United- are set to go head to head."

Well one its an American made film, two its a drama/fiction movie and three I'm English and have always been, I have been to many many football matches right from a young age and all I can say is stuff like this (on a smaller scale) rarely happens! I've seen many football games all over England and of course I watch the news, and well it just doesn't really happen at all. The most you 'usually' tend to get is nothing more than some taunting inside the stadium which you get at any game anywhere in the world, once outside every one is just walking home or wherever together and most of the time different fans are chatting and discussing the game etc, which I have done many times...

I went to Nou Camp once, Barcalona's stadium, cor that was high and exhasuting, the higher up you sit the cheaper the tickets. And since we were up the very very top, there was no direct way of getting up, we had to run around the stadium (we were late) about four times! Anymore and I would have died...

And to top it off when we got to our seats, YOU COULDN'T SEE THE PLAYERS! lol most other people up there were using binoculas! lmao

i never directly said it was an English film..and yes im sure its only a rare occurrance and only caused by a minorty...

Over recent years, i have only heard things about English fans, yes other nations have these problems, but it would seem not as bad as England. Australia was given a contraversial penalty given against them, you didnt see their 20,00 fans making any trouble, this violence is pointless.

And media do not single out England, at least not in Australian media. But this sort of thing is bad for the sport, especially in the World Cup, and this isnt the first time they have done this in the sports main event.

Yeah but any media or press do have a tendancy to make a meal or make something seem worse than it is don't they, often trying to create a better read/watch etc. And well England aren't up there in FIFA's worst at all!

i think part of the problem is that in england and a lot of the main hooligan countries football is the major sport. so it consumes people (not to justify the actions of the mindless morons)
in auustrila to the best of my knowledge football is an emerging sport youve a lot of of other sports which are far greater supported and watched which probably explains why you get so little trouble and also you get more news from the premiership due to the larger amount of national team players who play in this league.
so many nations have terrible hooligan problems a lot far worse than england but the press very rarely report it in there country. italy is one of the worse it was only a year or 2 ago some one through a motorbike from a top teir of one of the grounds and it hardly made the news in italy

Wow, someone threw a motorbike from a top tier?

How'd they get it up there? Cause any injuries/deaths?

And yeah I agree, England has the most football teams and leagues anywhere in the world, and because the Premiership is so well know around the world and many countries have players that play in it, people will hear much more from it in the press and media so it will seem as England is the major problem in all this. When you will get other countries with far worse reputations that hardly make the news. FIFA says that the worst countries fro football supporters in Italy, Turkey and Poland, but how much do you hear of their problems, like Slattery said.

Yeah, its always the England that are causing the trouble, never anyone else, funny that!

I want Italy to win now, no way in hell i want Germany to win!

I don't like Portugal or Italy much, and although I've never been much of a Germany or France fan I do think that they both deserve to be in the final more than the other two. But perhaps Germany winning due to an all round World Cup performance, where as France struggled and only just made it through from the group stages. Which I thought South Korea deserved to advance more than France.
