I just got this W760 last Friday, having all the problems posted here with the old RCA035 firmware... Music, Alarm etc...

Then upgraded the firmware to RCA038 with SEUS... all problems gone... but now... in Walkman, I can't seem to hide Audiobooks, Podcast and SenseMe, when I uncheck them, save... it stubbornly show up again!!! The previous firmware was working ok.

I have also max out the M2 with SanDisk 8GB... it works fine too.

The good thing about these newer phones are now the Equaliser work nice with non Sony Ericsson Bluetooth A2DP headset , which wasn't work on my W850i! But, I can't to just press play on the headset to play music (on the first launch), must get the Walkman app launched to recognise the command, because I just press pair and next press play it just works.

Now (Flash) Wallpaper is fullscreen, before was chopped on top and bottom.

I still miss that standby clock, the displaying of missed calls, incoming SMS, calendar events notification on standby mode...

So, no more random reboots after the firmware upgrade?
does the walkman player works flawlessly?
what about the alarm clock, have you tested it?

Thanks in advance!!!

With the firmware he is using, I can find no bugs except the ones he mentioned. Random reboots are extremely rare. I haven't had one in 3 weeks or so. Any problems with music playback are gone too.

I never have Random boot, Only have that old firmware for 3 day then I've upgrade to the new one. I do remember once when I used the GPS apps in the underground metro station it froze on me that I have to take out battery to force restart.

Yes! Walkman work flawlessly. No pause no freeze what so ever - I have almost whole 6.6GB (900++ songs) of MP3 & MPEG4 (mix of min 128kbps - high bit rate, Variable Bit Rate audio). By the way, It's a High Performance M2 (SanDisk claims).

One more thing, the Walkman is now smart enough not to catalogue/index ringtones!

I rely on the phone alarm only. It's been 3 days... The alarm haven't fail on me yet. Where as the old firmware did not wake me up on Monday morning (before the firmware upgrade).

Yes, those drivers are problematic. You have to manually install the drivers.

Unpack "USBFlashDriver.zip" to somewhere you can find them. The file is located in: "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Sony Ericsson\\Update Service\\setup\\drivers". Assuming you have the software installed at that location.

The next time you plug in your phone to flash, select the folder you unpacked that stuff in. Make sure you mark 'include subfolders' as well.

Hi everyone,

I've had this phone for a week, I think it's ace, not had the problems people have been talking about, except that very occasionally mp3 playback pauses for half a second (I counted this twice in one hour, didn't bother me really).

Thought I would upgrade the firmware anyway as SEUS said there was a newer version available (I'm on O2 / Genie in the UK) and before I spent ages putting all my settings on there. The update software is a bit lame not supporting Vista 64, as BloodAngel also found above, so had to use an old laptop with WinXP 32bit.

Phone manufacture date: w24 2008
I think old firmware was R3??035 (can't remember the ?? value, yeah I really should have written all the versions down...) now the firmware reports R3CA033, I was expecting 038?! Surely I haven't managed to downgrade my phone, I noticed my Java version is now later (8.3.0 -> 8.3.1) so guess I am ok... can anyone in the UK on O2 confirm that R3CA033 is the latest FW revision for us?

Since this firmware upgrade I did have my first crash & reboot, I didn't have any before the upgrade. I was playing mp3 audio, running the GPS and fiddling around in service mode at the time...

On a slightly different subject has anyone got the USB internet via computer LAN working? The phone registers a USB ethernet emulation network, and I enable internet connection sharing (ICS) on my LAN connection, but when trying to connect to the internet on the phone it seems to try get data from the USB connection but ends in a communication error. I've tried Vista 64 and Windows XP 32 with all firewalls etc disabled. Looking at the network status window there does seem to be a few packets being exchanged.

Thanks

Hi,

I too have had the random reboot issues which seems to usually occur when I try to send an SMS...and the phone displays a message saying "Inactive SIM"....vibrates for a second, the reboots.

But I also get the 5 seconds of silence during voice calls occasionally..!

I have tried the Sony Update service and it always tells me that no update is available.

I bought my phone via an on-line store and it is an 08W24 manufactured in Malaysia.

Current software is R3BA035...

Please Help...someone...?
