haha ! no man they just played to win - determination and lots of defending. In a way its the best way to play, get the winning goal and spend the rest of the match making sure the opposition dont equalise.
It makes it a little cheap on the oppostion, and a little boring to watch, but hell, it worked for Greece !

thats what i call effective Football...not anti-football.
Greece reminds me German team...Ok we are not Brazilia but we don't play anti-football.

"Hi guys, I am Greek and very proud for our National Team. It is true that everybody, including us, like the attacking and beautiful style. I hope all those bitter words do not come from envy. But who can claim that European football has lost from the way that Greece's victory has come, when National teams and clubs from countries like Germany and Italy have won several titles playing with their well known defensive, boring but patient and effective style? And don't make me remind you how England is playing after scoring a goal first. After all, Greece was in the SAME field with all the other star teams, playing clean, by the rules, and they could NOT beat us. Nobody kept them from scoring except the Greek's solid defence, smart game plan and excessive effort. Maybe the reasons were different, maybe the several matches played by other European players in the Champions League and National Championships, maybe it was the lack of thirst for another cup among the hundreds, maybe the foolishness of some coaches like Holland's (were was Makaay?), France's (No, the name typed at the back of the shirt cannot score a goal on its own, and at last stop being so snobbish, Rothen should be starting), Italy's (Great looks, nice hair, shiny shoes and shirts but just spitting on people's faces cannot win a match), Portugal's (why Paouleta was starting every match?). And remember that Greece have kick out ALL the great teams that claimed for the cup, Spain, France, Czech and Portugal. Besides, almost all greek players are playing in European clubs (Werder Bremen, Inter, Benfica, Porto, Roma, Bolton, Fiorentina, Atletiko Madrid, Monaco) so they should be good enough to play against the so called "star players". And as someone already said they are all, really, Greek nationals representing their country and not nationalized foreign players. Why do you want everything for yourself and complain about Greece's win? Why should always Germany, Italy or England be the cup winners? If you think about it a little more you'll see that European football has a lot to earn from this long term. Many cheap greek talent players for the major european clubs, great effort from other countries to improve their football, more challenging european club contests, and other. Just be sensible and enjoy Greece's victory with us. "

I donīt see why people keep trying to take merit from Greeceīs victory. They won, they deserved it, even if they donīt play beautifull football. It was a great conquest!
I know that if it would be us winning there will be also people undervaluating it, because it was against greece, because we were helped by the refs, because thereīs to much heat in Portugal, because it never rains, bla, bla, bla.
So i can understand what greeks feel reading all this nonsense.

.Shame on you English football fans,just because you loose with Portugal doesn't mean you can't see the "essence" of the game. The Premier league is the most amazing football league in Europe ( In my opinion),did they play eleven in the defense during 90m of the game? If you love the game you should know what we are talking about.
Yes, Portugal defense and Ricardo ( the keeper )fail, yes we are unable to score against Greece, yes they give us a tactic lesson,but NO they don't DESERVE TO WIN!!! ( neither against Check Republic)
And about ref's, see the final game three times as i saw it and then explain me all the faults against Greece that the "great" Markus Merk ignore and how he ( the ref) Know so great to stop the Portuguese game in the mid field... And No, I didn't send him a mail saying " I WILL KILL YOU"
If there's anything wrong with my English,sorry in advance but i'm Portuguese and with very Proud...
