??Yup! That's standard on Multilinks. N1,500 monthly access, deducted in small daily bites of N50.

@blackgig: You are much welcome here . I have checked up Prodigits in the past but it didn't quite gel, so I didn't stay.??Coolapostle here is the Prodigits regular, and I am sure you two would have met.??So, let's get to know you: what phone/s you use, on which network/s, and what you do.....

Welcome Blackgig... and yes I actually know the Guy but as "ajsagai" and not "coolapostle".

I returned today from Kano... and Glo GPRS was live right from my hotel room, all through the expressway from Kano thru Kaduna and down to my little mansion in Abuja. How is THAT for coverage. I could be on Prodigits all thru the trip.

The only poroblem is that Glo is charging me. But the experience of browsing with Glo is just... wonderful.

@All I am testing Google Earth at a fairly fast cyber cafe. It is something else. You all should try it. I was dazed when it zoomed in on where the Rivers Niger and Benue meet.

Welcome Blackgig to the PNF on Esato. I too visit prodigits from time to time. Hope u'll have as much fun here as u do on Prodigits.
Lets get to know u better.

@All, I guess everyone experienced the gprs blackout throughout yesterday and today, well MTN seems to be back, but Vmobile is still out. I hear they've extended free gprs till March 31st 2006. My guess is that MTN will follow suit.

Come to think of it, these GSM operators can actually offer GPRS free as long as u use say N1500 monthly. this would ensure that subscribers regularly recharge their accounts. (Alternatively a fixed monthly amount of say N2000 could be charged for the service) I believe this will earn them more income and patronage rather than charging per kB.
I'm optimistically hoping someone from MTN, Glo and Vmobile will read this and adopt.

@All I finally got to look at the Muhammad Cartoons. Those Danish fools have no excuse. They were intentionally looking for trouble. In fact the violence wolud be worse if all the angry mobs actually got to SEE the provocative toons. They were not even funny!

I can imagine some useless atheist sitting to draw nonsense about my Lord and King... Fire and Brimstone go drop over them, their wives, their kids and their danish dogs!

There!!! I have vented my anger.

@Amby... I think even 1.5k /mo is too much. Haba! GPRS should now eat a hole in our pockets now. Anyway, I am sure Glo has noticed the effects of its pricing by now. But our networks just don't have any marketing sense apart from splashing millions all about.

@amby: The problem with your proposals for GPRS charges was highlighted in an earlier post you made. In all probability, Glo GPRS is this stable in part because of the charges. Any GSM operator who adopts a monthly flat rate or anything of the sort must build additional capacity to ensure adequate QOS. Or we will end up with patchy connections that won't do anyone any good.

@Seinsho: I guess the blackout wasn't total. there was no gprs signal in my area.

@Aya: You're right, but there has to be a way of encouraging subscribers to recharge their phones using free gprs as bait. the last time I recharged my glo line was December last year. meanwhile my Vmobile and MTN lines are always loaded.
They could offer free gprs at off peak periods when the network is under-utilised or offer free gprs to subscribers who use up to N5k monthly.
I strongly believe that this could be used as an effective marketing tool
