@mannivirdee Just tested your theory and it didnt work for me, held the phone in lots of ways and holding it tight didnt stop it working, no idea as to why my flash doesnt fire, just taken around 10 shots and the ones in the lightest room condition made the flash fire but the darker room where flash is most needed and no flash, strange.
Also why do photo's taken with flash indoors with decent daylight make the room look darker than it really is ??

ok my experience with this new (unbranded/generic) firmware:
(other than whats been noted on the last 100 or so pages)
• jpegs that were 'corrupt' - ie black preview & black screen when viewing them on the last firmware are now back to normal
• RANDOM restarts during phone calls! Whilst talking on the phone it will vibrate once, black screen, and then reboot. slowly. (light on lens comes on)
(Last time this happened It reset the theme also)
• Numbers are slow showing up and entering when in a call. If you press 123 whilst in a call the numbers will show up first in very faint then slowly it will send the tones down the phone!
• Random restarts whilst in my pocket! The phone will vibrate ONCE, black screen, and the keypad will light up, as will the blue lens light, then reboot, slowly.
• Although theres less slowdown when there was before, when it does slow down rather than a few waits of 2 seconds, it grinds to a halt!
• When tagging photos it totally messes up the order of the pictures in the camera. I have photos taken months ago saying they were taken on the day i was tagging! ANNOYING! If I remove the tag it removes all jpeg information, ie- when the photo was taken, with what camera etc.
• Ringtone doesnt always play when someone calls (phone is not on silent obviously!) - Ive always put the current ringtone on the phone memory so it doesnt have to load it from the card when someone calls.
• In LONG calls the phone seems to get VERY warm.
To be honest im quite disappointed with the phone, probably going back to my K800.
PS. Does ANYONE know how to record video via the front videophone camera other than going thru the failed videocall and record video message menu? [ This Message was edited by: rusonjitsu on 2008-03-01 14:45 ]

@rusonjitsu
I feel sorry for you, you seem to have gotten all of the issues from this phone AND from the latest firmware. Do you live near a SE-service shop? You could pop it in there.
If not and if you are desperate i would try to do a proper flash at Da Vinci. It probably won't solve anything but who knows, programming is a mysterious thing and maybe maybe it might soften some of your issues.

You can't record video through the front camera, its only for video conferencing.

Here are some tips I learned
- stabilizer is not really good. But the phone tells it so (press info) that the stabilizer decreases picture quality. So what is it for? for persons who's freezing to death and who are a mildly drunk ^_^
-when taking pictures in a semi-lit place (when outdoors with not so dim lights, or a living room during 7 to 8 am), it is recommended to put off flash. The photomate application tells it so (it is best to use the flash for not so distant objectives in a poor lit place or when backlighting is strong) Backlighting is when you are taking a picture where the sun's light is directly behind the subject.
-ISO 100 does not take too much light that washes away color, so sometimes it gives a good color outcome. but in a dim-lit place or subject, it really becomes too dark.
- its better to use best pic than using the sports settings.
-when using document settings with flash, sometimes overburn at a particular spot occurs. to avoid these, move the cam further away from the subject then use the zoom function.
-the autofocus light fires when stabilizer is off.
-to properly know the right distance to take a pic of the subject, press halfway the camera button, but do not go all the way down when the green frame appears. Remove your finger afterwards then take the shot (full press down)
-the K850i is a good 'still' camera but not an over-all quality cam. Don't expect that it will give you super-duper award winning shots. It is still a commercially-driven device.

Well let's hope that he next firmware tweaks tha camera some more so it becomes a bit better overall. Maybe some poeple will start modding it soon?
Question: Does anyone still use document mode for most of theit shooting even after the latest update?

@Vlad83,
yes u can. Try videocalling a number that doesnt accept video calls (ie answerphone) or a number thats engaged.
a menu will come up saying
Video call failed
Make Voice Call
Send Video msg
Retry Video call.
The second option "Send Video Msg" will open the front camera full screen where u can record a video. it will be saved in a mms which u can send on.
I want to know if u can do this anotherway?
PS WILL UPLOAD SOME PICS OF THIS ASAP
