The Kitkat 4.4.2 update for the Z1 was only certified yesterday and today the roll out begins. No complete change log yet Sony will release that soon. http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2[....]eria-z1-and-xperia-z1-compact/

I doubt that Sony will bring the new camera processing to the Z1 as that would hit Z2 sales, same goes for 4k and tap to wake and timeshare video etc.

I think the new camera algorithms will being this update to the Z1 but other features like 4K and Timeshift video will come with future updates similar how Sony updated the Z to get the Z1 camera features but only time will tell

If the algorithm isn't changed, then there will be no point in updating to kitkat a it will bring no benefits for me.

Xperia Blog's latest post suggests the camera algorithm may be tweaked.

I would make sense Sony working on the same algorithms for the Z1, Z1c and Z2 as they have exactly the same camera hardware just so they don't have to double the R&D that goes into it
